P1 McLaren GTR Is A Monstrous Hybrid That Develops 1,000 HP

The English from McLaren has presented the new P1 GTR before its public debut in Geneva. The hybrid develops 1,000 hp and is dedicated to automotive circuits.
The McLaren P1 GTR is the new proposal of the British brand to customers for whom money is no problem even when a new car is involved. At the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren will present to the public the competition model inspired by the F1s GTR version painted in the same color combination as one of its descendants.

It promises to be the most fun to drive car on the track in the world, and is 50 kilograms lighter than the street version, from which it was inspired. To increase the power level as much as possible, and to reduce weight in a consistent manner, McLaren have removed all the elements that would have made the P1 GTR compatible with public roads.

The V8 twin-turbo engine displacing 3.8 liters on the McLaren P1 GTR develops 800 hp, and is accompanied by a 200 horsepower electric motor. Together they deliver 1,000 hp to the rear wheels fitted with Pirelli tires on 19-inch alloy wheels and central fixation system.

On the external level, the model impresses through its massive fixed spoiler, which increases downforce by 10 percent, for a total of 660 kg at 241 km / h. In addition, the bodywork is 80 millimeters wideer compared to the standard model and has a reduced height by 50 mm.

The side windows are made of polycarbonate, and the ceiling and engine cover are made of carbon fiber. The exhaust pipes use titanium alloy and Inconel, tanks to which 6.5 kilograms are shaved off compared to the standard ones.

Those at McLaren will use the new GTR P1 in a single brand cup and customers that will buy it will have the opportunity to train in a special simulator and receive professional counseling in motorsports before going up driving. The purchase of a P1 GTR includes visits to McLaren Human Performance Center, where the physical condition of the pilots is tested and improved by specialist medical advice for maximum sports performance. The price of a McLaren P1 GTR was not disclosed, but it is expected that hundreds of thousands of dollars will be involved, just like access to the FXX program from Ferrari, its direct equivalent, does.

In contrast with the McLaren P1 variant for roads, the back of the racing McLaren model is dominated by the existence of a wing with fixed height. This wing is placed more than 400 mm above the sculpted rear body. This represents an increase of over 100 mm, compared to the adjustable wing on the road version.

Overall, McLaren has now established a 3 tier name structure: Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series. The first one is the entry point to McLaren and will debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show this April. Next we will have the core McLaren Super Series, made of the 650S, the 625C (for Asia only) and the 675LT, which will also premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.
