Owners Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini in Style
|   Tuesday, June 11, 2013
350 Lamborghini owners rode their trusted and loved machines in a convoy through Italy, marking the 50th birth anniversary of the company. Although the organizers had the route set up previously while the local authorities were at hand keeping the road clear, refueling issues pushed many owners off track and this led to minor confusion for a while. The issue was however dealt with and the day passes without any major occurrences.

The V10 and V12 powered Lamborghini is always thirsty and this was the major source or commotion at the event.
A quite town through which the convoy passed at noon would have enough Lamborghini stories to tell their grand kids for the next few decades at least. The sole garage owner in the town also benefitted hugely from the event and could easily thrive on the earnings of the day for at least a month.

Every road leading in and out of the town were choc a bloc with Lamborghinis and the thunderous cacophony of the hundreds of V8's V10's and V12's would not be forgotten in a little while at least. Similar moments were also recorded at Milan where the event commenced. This event was held on public roads, cordoned off by the local police and onlookers felt like witnesses to a huge Grand Prix event, except for the fact that it was held on their neighborhood.

The convoy of over 350 vehicles was moving through the slow pace of the town and the exhaust note given out by close to 190,000 BHP was awe inspiring. The group which needed to refuel consisted of 20 cars and the drivers took a detour from the auto strada point to venture into the town to look for fueling stations. However, the event was not about speed and there were no instances of police having to chase down errant drivers in a Lamborghini.

The day was peaceful except for the cacophony of the Vs and finally the convoy entered into the unmistakable Italian town of Bobbio. Here the 350 Lamborghinis found specific parking spots around the road and the love, passion and respect for Lamborghinis became clear instantly. The cars ranged from the first generation 350 GT to the latest model of the Aventador and were imported, shipped or driven to Milan from distant parts around the world.

Various license plates from across the globe (such as Britain, Lebanon, Kuwait, US, Australia and Japan) were seen although Britain recorded the highest attendance. Incidentally the UK imports greater numbers of Lamborghini than Italy while USA and China are the only two nations to buy more than the UK. The Lamborghini Gallardo was the most popular model at the event and some of the wackiest models seen were a Murceilago with disco lamps and a pink Diablo. The tight but twisted roads along with the breathtaking scenery complemented the revving roaring Lamborghinis perfectly and the ride felt like heaven. People from across the globe were present to either take part or witness this huge ceremonial drive.
