Opel Unveiled New 2015 Corsa
|   Sunday, July 13, 2014
Opel's sales success pursues a new driving experience in the segment of small models by raising the bar: performance chassis, the engine and gearbox are now being targeted. The new turbocharged 1.0 liter three-cylinder engine, refined and efficient, uniform switching transmissions, a new suspension and optimized steering, all ensure top comfort and precision.

The new Corsa also comes with a completely new interior that enhances the perception of quality and space, including IntelliLink infotainment technology and driver assistance systems of the latest generation.

Also, Opel designers have offered on the new Corsa a dynamic look that complies with the brand's design philosophy by introducing smoother sculptural forms, and precise details. Overall, the new Corsa is equipped with everything needed to ensure the continued success of 32 years in a highly competitive market segment.

The fifth generation of the Opel bestseller, will have its world premiere at the "Mondial de l'Automobile 2014" in Paris (October 4 to 19) and will be produced in Zaragoza, Spain and Eisenach, Germany, before year's end.

"The Opel Corsa has always been widely praised, particularly for its appealing looks and an efficient use of space within compact dimensions. This has been a decisive factor in the model's enduring popularity, and we are, of course, carrying this core appeal forward in the new generation. Thanks to many new technologies, we are also offering a fantastic driving experience, which raises the standard in this vehicle class. The fifth Corsa generation will be full of surprises" said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.

Like the current Corsa model, customers can choose between two chassis versions, Comfort and Sport. The Sport chassis has stiffer springs and dampers, as well as calibration and specific geometry direction for a more direct response.

The main element under the hood for so-called new "Corsa E" fifth generation is the new 1.0 liter ECOTEC turbo engine with direct injection and three cylinders. This powerful engine is the only small 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine series produced with a balance shaft which allows it to set a new standard in its class thanks to a very low level of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and increased comfort while driving.

The compact 1.0 ECOTEC turbo engine is made entirely of aluminum, which already fulfills the Euro 6 emissions standard requirements, and is available in two versions of power: 66 kW / 90 hp or 85 kW / 115 hp.

Both are characterized by an excellent response time, and strong torque in the low rev range, generating 170 Nm from just 1,800 rpm. The new three-cylinder Opel engine is equipped with Start / Stop technology as standard.

At launch, the most fuel efficient Corsa version with an output of 70 kW / 95 hp, with manual transmission, 5 speeds and start / stop system, will have a level of CO2 emissions of just 89 g / km. Other variants with low emissions will be released soon in the following spring.

In order to provide maxi safety in a frontal collision, the warning system uses a red warning projected onto the windscreen in driver's sight. In addition, the tire pressure monitoring system's display warns the driver in the event of excessive pressure losses.
