Opel Mokka X - Modernization On All Levels
|   Friday, February 12, 2016
Opel Mokka X introduces multiple improvements in terms of powertrain, safety, connectivity and style to the popular German small class SUV.
Since its debut in 2012, Opel Mokka has captured more than 500,000 customers in Europe, becoming one of the best-selling small class SUVs.
With the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show (March 3 to 13, 2016), Opel will showcase the updated version called Mokka X. The letter X will now accompany the names of all SUVs and crossovers from Opel's range.

The Mokka's facelift brings many features and technologies. Besides the modernization, it is easy to see the design was tampered with especially when looking at bodywork lines and shapes which are sculpted in a more pronounced fashion.

Also, as a stylistic theme, the form of wing stands out, the horizontal grille, and LED daytime running lights and rear lamps that can optionally include LED lighting. The bolder bodywork appearance is complemented with color schemes which see two new colors: Amber Orange and Absolute Red.

Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned using as inspiration the new Opel Astra console. The Opel Mokka X dashboard now includes touch screens measuring 7 and 8 inches through which the driver can control the new generation IntelliLink infotainment system. It offers extensive connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. Also, the X Mokka will get access to all OnStar services.

For added convenience, the Mokka X will be equipped with keyless access and engine start as well as with ergonomic chairs tested and certified by AGR (Campaign for Healthy Backs, an organization headed by independent experts in Healthy Backs), which are unique in this segment.

Increased levels of safety are possible thanks to the new Opel Eye video camera system, which has higher resolution and higher image processing power. The new Opel Eye allows faster beam adjusting speed for the headlights with LED and underlying driving assistance systems. Opel Eye video camera detects moving cars in front and serves this information to the function indicating the tracking distance, which helps the driver estimate how close he is running behind another car.

In addition, Opel Mokka X is also equipped with warning system in case of a potential collision, so that when the distance to a vehicle running in front is reduced too quickly on the windshield red LED lights will be projected and an audible alert will be activated. Also an audible alert and a flare will flash on the instrument cluster panel if the driver involuntarily changes lanes. These warnings are activated if the car accidentally leaves the lane at speeds above 60 km / h.

The engine range now includes the new 1.6-liter diesel engine, developing 110 and 136 hp, and the new direct injection 1.4-liter turbo gasoline unit with 152 hp. This petrol engine, which debuted on the Astra model comes with an automatic six-speed gearbox, start / stop system and four-wheel drive. The Mokka X records a combined fuel consumption of 6.6 l / 100 km (according to preliminary data) in this configuration.

The wheel drive system has a multi-disc electromagnetic clutch and traction automatically varies depending on the road. For example, it can get 100 percent traction on the front axle on dry road or equally divided between the two decks, if the road is covered with an increased amount of water.
