Nissan Unveils new Engine Lineup in the Second Generation Qashqai
|   Sunday, October 06, 2013
Nissan has introduced a new breed of engines into its second generation Qashqai. This 1.2 liter turbo charged engine lineup will be replacing its crossover lineup, when it launches early 2014. This four cylindered DiGT engine displaces 113 BHP and will be its sole petrol powered engine in its current lineup. The diesel engine includes a 1.5 dCi displacing 108 BHP and a 1.6 dCi displacing 128 BHP.

Trim levels on these cars include Visia+, Visia, Acenta Premium, Acenta, Tekna and Safety Pack.
While front wheel drive is expected to be standard on all models, the 1.6 dCi should feature an all wheel drive train as standard. Spy shots of the second generation Qashqai have been revealed and this vehicle looks like a tuned up version based on its previous model. A test mule is expected to be up for test drives soon while on road testing should begin soon in the United Kingdom.

Nissan promises a whole new drive experience with the Qashqai and they claim to have given their next generation Qashqai a few very vital modifications, required for enhancing general ride comfort and quality. Design wise, this vehicle will take numerous style cues from the high end Hi Cross Concept, which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2012. Even though it was rumored that Nissan would not be back with a second generation Qashqai due to a new X-Trail, the company has rubbished such claims by confirming this vehicle.

A seven seated version has been confirmed for production even though the five seated version will be available. Standard sized rims are available on all variants of the car and customization options should be available once this vehicle is formally launched. We however have inside info that this vehicle could be based on a similar platform as of the X Trail. In which case, this vehicle should be quite fun to drive. Nissan promise that they have altered the general drive feel of their latest SUVs. Hence, the second generation Qashqai has a lot of hopes pinned on to it.

We are quite hopeful about these vehicles as Nissan promises to send its first batch to dealerships by early 2014. Use of a turbo charged engine may have raised a few eyebrows but it surely is necessary for a vehicle such as the Qashqai for a variety of reasons. Nissan has designed this vehicle for use in high altitude locations, a naturally aspirated engine would not be up to the task. A turbo charged engine is also beneficial for saving fuel, hence maintaining fuel efficiency.

The car is currently under wraps, hence details regarding its interior and exterior are not known. We however expect Nissan to unveil its design within the next few months. This vehicle is all set for unveil although last minute tests are yet to be conducted. Nissan claims that the Qashqai is based on modern aspects and technology and hence it should be a pleasure to drive on and off road.
