Nissan Teams up with Williams F1 to Manufacture Street Legal Sports Car
|   Monday, July 15, 2013
Nissan Nismo and Multiple Formula One race winning team Williams F1 plans on joining forces to design a road worthy sports vehicle. Nismo along with Williams F1 will work together to better the performance of the next generation road cars. Both parties have however refused comment on the situation prior to an official statement from the higher authorities. Insiders have however revealed that the first production version from the joint venture will be showcased by 2014.

Williams has undertaken the project and is currently working at the Williams Advanced Engineering facility. Nissan Nismo claims that this partnership with Williams F1 will prove to be rewarding as the Formula One veterans are well aware of technologies and possess engineering prowess unknown to Nismo at the moment. Williams F1 is also adept to material science, simulation and hybrid technology and is a world leader.

The company also played a very important role in designing the Jaguar C X75 prototype which is being rated highly at various motor shows worldwide. Williams F1 has proven its engineering capability and prowess in the past as well and along with Nismo the new brand could be hard to compete with as new production model vehicles are formulated.

Nismo has catered mainly to performance enthusiasts and this is the primary reason why Nissan chose to form the partnership with Williams F1, which has a proven track record for speed and high performance. Nismo is well aware of the needs of the youth, which it considers to be a large portion of its varied customer base. It was thought that the Nissan GTR Nismo would be the flagship model for performance as Nissan plans on unveiling it at the Tokyo Motor Show this year.

However, it is evident that this is not the case as Nismo is looking for potential performance heavy road cars for production in the near future. Although vehicles manufactured by Nissan and customized by Nismo have managed to sell well in the target markets, Nismo is looking forward to designing and building an outright super car and this as a result has forced the company to tie up with an engineering marvel.

Insiders at Williams F1 claim that this project is very exciting due to the fact that Nismo is a proven sports brand and the challenges they provide are worth the resources and time spent on them. This is morale boosting news and the medium range sports segment is expected to receive quite a few additional vehicles within a course of the next few years.

Nissan has a passion for racing which Williams F1 shares and as a result both companies think that this partnership will be mutually beneficial. The new vehicles formed could sport either of their brand names or could go by a completely new nameplate. This has not been thought about at the moment as the major focus is on designing and building the first vehicle. Insiders believe that this partnership could be the pinnacle of a new generation of vehicles.
