Nissan planning to launch a new C segment hatchback fall 2014
|   Monday, October 29, 2012
Nissan is planning to launch a hatch back to directly challenge the Ford Focus ST and the Volkswagen Golf and the vehicle is set to be launched fall 2014. The still unnamed hatch back will be manufactured in Sunderland and this is the first time since 2006 that Nissan is launching a hatch back in the European market post the Almera.

Nissan is busy campaigning for the Qashqai family cross over and the vehicle is all set to be launched. Mapping the initial response in the family car segment, Nissan is planning to make a comeback in the family hatch back segment with this vehicle.
Nissan has been following the wait and watch policy for quite some time now and back in 2010, Nissan had done the same with the Juke.

Gaining confidence from the last two launches, Nissan is all set to make a comeback to the family car segment. Market estimates hint at a successful stint in the European market and considering the current demand for Japanese technology, these vehicles have a bright future. The plan to manufacture a C segment hatch back for the European market was conceived 18 months ago and the proto type is current being constructed to gauge the designing flaws.

The hatch back could resemble the all new Qashqai and Nissan is looking forward to putting up a few patent designs like the front bumpers, high head lamps, etc. The project has just begun and for the vehicle to reach production stages the engineers from Nissan need a minimum of another two years.

The concept was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 and the same is expected of the company at the same event in 2013. The design is a bit cheeky but combines the perfect balance between class and performance. This is not a performance based hatch back and will primarily be focused on the family car segment.

Some of the technologically advanced features to be available as standard on the hatch back are the options of live music streaming, self parking, total view mirrors and a satellite navigation system. Powering the machine will be a 1.2 liter three cylindered super charged DIG – S petrol engine and the vehicle will be available as a front wheel drive five door hatch back.

Currently a three door version is not planned and Nissan has promised to look into the matter as time passes. Nissan has seen a huge growth in global sales and profit and this new vehicle in the Focus lineup is set to carry on this forward momentum. Designing the Qashqai was a challenge and the designers and engineers at Nissan Motors have done a commendable job in completing the project successfully.

Nissan is also looking forward to building a B segment vehicle, the Note and this vehicle is expected to set a benchmark in the segment. Nissan has a lot on its hands at the current moment and the company is dedicated towards presenting its customers with something new all year long.
