Nissan NP300 Navara's New Title: 2016 International Pick-Up
|   Friday, December 04, 2015
The new Nissan Navara NP300 receives the grand prize at the international competition Pick-up of the Year 2016 at a ceremony that was held in Lyon, France. The new Nissan pick-up outperformed its competitors Mitsubishi L200 and Ford Ranger in a fierce competition, in which the jury members pointed road-holding, off-road capabilities, engine performance and the payload.

Thus, Nissan became the third winner of this prestigious trophy awarded by the jury members, International Van of the Year, after an intense program of tests conducted in the summer and autumn of this year, in Spain, France, Norway, but also in the countries of every jury member.
The new Navara NP 300 gathered 80 points after the voting process, thus beating the two competitors of this year, Mitsubishi L 200 (47 points) and Ford Ranger (39 points).
Philippe Guérin-Boutaud, Corporate Vice President Nissan LCV BU declared that "This prestigious award celebrates Nissan's 80 years of pick-up expertise. Rigorous testing by International Pick-up of the Year illuminated the tough and innovative character of the all-new Navara."

The new wave of pick-up renewals launched this year greatly raised the level of available technology in standard equipping. Among the most appreciated novelty brought by Navara NP300 we have the multilink suspension that offers the highest comfort for driver and passenger in one of the most competitive segments of light commercial vehicles, without any compromise in terms of payload, towing capacity, off-road characteristics, and general use of the vehicle in personal interest or as company car.

The style is very modern and dynamic, while preserving the important aspect of a robust carrier. Gearboxes, both manual and automatic, are very effective, and the interior is similar to that of a passenger car, with comfort features lists being very long.

Other competitors greatly raised the level of equipment too, but the Around View Monitor function, which allows perfect visibility around the vehicle (360 degrees to maneuver at low speed), is a specific equipment for the new Navara and very useful. Also, another unique innovation in the segment is the Forward Emergency Braking which reduces or prevents the risk of collision.

Consumption of diesel oil was the lowest in the case of new Navara (with an excellent ratio between high torque, 450 Nm, and fuel consumption of only 7 l / 100 km, thanks to the two turbine technology), the vehicle being very comfortable both on the road and rough terrain, where thanks to the new suspension, the rear seat passengers are not rattled as many models of pick-ups already existing on the market do.

"Nissan is best known by its customers in Europe as the maker of capable 4x4s and breakthrough crossovers. This new Navara represents the fusion of those two realms of excellence to deliver a truly breakthrough pickup truck that combines rugged 4×4 toughness with the sophistication and efficiency of a Crossover. It is truly an honor to be selected as the International Pickup of the Year by a panel of the most experienced commercial vehicle journalists across Europe. Thank you to the IPU jurors for this award and for this powerful endorsement of the new Nissan Navara's product excellence" said Ponz Pandikuthira, Director of Light Commercial Vehicles for Nissan Europe.

Production of the new NP300 Navara started at the Nissan plant in Barcelona and commercialization in Europe is planned for early 2016.
