Nissan Navara EnGuard Concept Brings Useful Technologies For Rescuers
|   Thursday, October 27, 2016
The auto show for commercial vehicles in Hanover saw Nissan revealing the new Nissan Navara EnGuard Concept.
It is built based on the Navara Double Cab Tekna model, with a double cabin. Being based on a double cab pick-up, the new concept is seasoned with stylish elements such as the flared wheel arches, the 16-inche rims, shod in off-road 285/75 / R16 tires, the gauges being increased by 80 mm for the front axle and 94 mm for the rear axle, while the ground clearance was increased by 50 mm, amounting to 278 mm.

The roof was raised by 136 mm, sheltering the LED lights that illuminate 360 degrees. The LED light on the roof is complemented with the blue strobe lamps located on the front bumper and wings.

The concept has robust forms on the outside, due to the prominent embossments, increased thresholds and off-road tires. The pick-up is equipped with a winch built into the bumper, new anti-fog headlights and work flashing lights. On the thresholds and rims layers of fluorescent green paint have been applied.
On the roof, as already stated, there is a facility that can provide, if necessary, a bright light that can light everything in a 360 degree arc if needed.

Behind the cabin are installed two fiberglass compartments for storing ropes, axes, several cylinders with oxygen resuscitation equipment and life jackets.
The bin has been redesigned too. Thus, this amendment incorporates the equipment required for rescuers and the DJI Phantom 4 drone.

This drone can operate at a height of 6,000 meters at a speed of 20 meters per second for 30 minutes and the images on the camcorder can be seen on a display located in the bin truck. Due to this drone the rescuers can see the victims or other dangers.

Moreover, in this bin two lithium-ion batteries are incorporated, consisting of 7 modules taken from the Nissan LEAF's batteries and integrated in an aluminum housing.

The batteries provide 2 kW and are electrically charged due to the diesel powertrain with a displacement of 2.3 liters and 190 hp, found under the hood of the Nissan Navara EnGuard Concept.

Being portable, the batteries can be taken by rescuers. To this device extrication equipment can connect, for example, each battery having two sockets and three USB ports. Thus, the batteries will assist rescue teams in hard to reach places where there is no opportunity to get to a source of electricity.
As a result, the Nissan Navara EnGuard concept is not just a concept designed to give a smokescreen in a sleek mode, but a concept that brings useful technologies for rescue teams due to which the work of rescuers will be relieved.

Vice-President Phillippe Guerin-Boutard says that this could actually have real-world uses: “The Navara EnGuard Concept opens a new chapter in the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision, featuring our commitment to zero fatalities and zero emissions. Our prototype EV portable battery pack reveals how Nissan will integrate its world-renowned EV battery technology and expertise into new sectors in the future.”
