Nissan Juke Nismo RS - A New Version Of The Japanese Performance SUV
|   Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Nissan exhibited at the Los Angeles Auto Show the new Juke Nismo RS. It is the most powerful version of the small SUV class, equipped with the same 1.6-liter engine, but capable of delivering 215 horsepower. It is the most powerful version of all small SUV, and is aimed at only those who really want strong sensations.

The new Juke Nismo RS uses the same drive with the four-cylinder 1.6-liter, also found on other versions. But the engineers have recalibrated the electronic system and squeezed 215 horsepower at 6000 rpm and a torque figure of 284 Nm between 3,600 and 4,800 rpm.
All these figures are for the version with front-wheel drive and manual transmission.

For those who choose all-wheel drive and CVT automatic gearbox, things change. The total power arrives at 211 hp, and the engine torque comes to 249 Nm, between the 2400 and 6000 revolutions per minute.

Nissan has worked hard from the aerodynamics too. A new grille and a new front spoiler, as well as replacements for the projectors with LED makes arrive, making the Nismo RS 37 percent more efficient from an aerodynamic point of view compared to the Juke Nismo.

The aesthetic package is completed by a set of 18 inch alloy wheels shod with Continental ContiSportContact5 tires with dimensions of 255/45 but also a new palette of colors Pearl White, Brilliant Silver and Black Sapphire.

The interior is personalized with Recaro seats for the front passengers, red leather for all upholstery and Alcantara for the steering wheel. The SUV may receive one package of optional extras which include a 5.8 inch display with navigation, 3D maps, traffic information, voice recognition, reversing camera, USB connectivity and several Nissan Connect applications.

"The concept behind the development of the new JUKE NISMO RS is giving the customers exactly what they have been asking for – more power, handling and exclusive equipment like Recaro seats and Alcantara®-wrapped steering wheel," stated Pierre Loing, Vice President of Product and Advanced Planning and Strategy for Nissan North America. "And the best part is, it does it in a very balanced way, delivering up to 215 horsepower in combination with unique body and suspension upgrades."

"JUKE buyers now have six distinct ways to experience 'Innovation and excitement for all' – the premium level of features and equipment offered by the JUKE S, SV and SL models, the sporty appearance and upgraded power of the JUKE NISMO, and the race car-inspired design and fun-to-drive performance of the new JUKE NISMO RS," he continued.

The engine change in order to create the higher power and torque output include the optimized engine control (ECU) settings plus a revised exhaust system with a larger main tube diameter and revised baffling.

"The JUKE NISMO RS's exhaust has been tuned to create a highly visceral sound worthy of its racing-inspired roots."
As a wrap Loing declared that "The new JUKE NISMO RS is the real deal. It starts with racing-inspired aerodynamics, and high-quality attention to detail. It adds a race-style driver-machine interface with racing-style seats, gauges, shifter and steering wheel. Then it caps it all off with enhanced power and traction, agile handling and improved exhaust system. It's the JUKE enthusiasts have been asking for."
