Nissan Customizes the GT-R to Design the GT-R MY2013

It has been four years since the Nissan GT R managed to reach the European buyers and Nissan has finally decided to tweak the vehicle. The new Nissan GT R MY 2013 has an all new platform with engine modifications aimed at enhancing the overall power displacement of the vehicle. Nissan is known for the performance aspect of the GT R and this modification is expected to heighten the displacement even more.

The vehicle is powered by a 3.8 liter V6 engine displacing 542 BHP.
The vehicle received minor modifications to the multi link rear and double wishbone front suspension and this enhances the overall handling and ride quality of the vehicle. Nissan has also enhanced the performance of the dampers and this affects the handling of the vehicle for the better.

However, styling elements remain unchanged with major changes being made to the mechanical components. Although the power displacement stats remain unchanged, Nissan claim that the high output injectors help enhance the top end torque displacement and the engine responds on the GT R. The cornering ability of the vehicle has also been enhanced and the vehicle feels more stable and strong heading into corners. The drive shaft connections also make the chassis stronger and this enables the chassis to cope up with the extreme performance of the GT R.

Dashboard bracing has also been enhanced and this helps the decks support the suspension to do all the work. Nissan has achieved two major performance perks with the new upgrades. While the acceleration from 0 – 60 MPH has been enhanced, the turbo boost kicks in within first and second gear to enhance the momentary boost of power.

The GT R now takes 0.1 seconds less to reach 60 MPH from a standstill while its lap time at the Nurburgring has been reduced by 1.9 seconds. The four wheel drive rear transaxle based system enhances performance although it weighs a hefty 1740 kg. On the road however, the GT R has faced Just as smooth and fast as its predecessor and the weight gain is neutralized by the rise in power.

The gearbox and transmission ratio has been set up to offer smooth performance and the steering column has been adjusted. This makes it quite smooth to handle and comfortable to drive. Nissan has set a few drive modes on the vehicle that adjusts the suspension settings as well as the torque displacement and this makes driving in different in different terrains possible.

While heading into sharp corners a bit of under steer is evident and the drive actually feels the transfer of power from the rear to the front axle. This balances the movement of the GT R. While the vehicle offers optimum torque at the 5000 RPM range, mid segment lag is evident and the throttle response becomes quite sharp. The price of the GT R is the best aspect of this vehicle and this makes this an affordable sports car. Nissan has stayed true to its motto and has priced the GT R at £76,610.
