Nico Rosberg leads before start of British Grand Prix
|   Friday, July 11, 2014
The Formula One races are running its course, and its ninth round, British Grand Prix, is going to be hosted at Silverstone circuit at Northamptonshire. Mercedes Racers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton are at the top of standings till now, and Mercedes obviously is leading in the competition as far as a team.

This is the 65th British Grand Prix as it had started in 1950, and it is also 48th time that Silverstone Circuit is hosting this race. So it is going to be a race of milestones.
While Nico Rosberg has a 29 point lead on Hamilton, the hometown boy would be hoping to make an impact in 9th round.

The league standings, first 5 positions are like this right now, Nico Rosberg from Mercedes leading with 165 points, with Lewis Hamilton, his teammate coming into second place with 136 points. In third position is Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull with 83 points. Fourth position is held by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso with 79 points. In 5th position is Sebastian Vettel from red Bull with 60 points.

Team-wise also, league standings reflect a similar prospects. Mercedes leads with 301 point and a huge lead which is possibly not going to be overcome. In second position is Red Bull with 143 points. Third position is held by Ferrari with 97 points and Force India comes in fourth with 87 points. Sauber, and once again Caterham, has failed to score a single point till now. This is probably why Caterham is being sold out.

After the end of Second World War Silverstone is being used as a racing circuit. It has 18 pretty tricky turns that racers have to tackle with in order to score any point. Most of these are right handed turns, with a few at start and end being left turns. Turn 4 and turn 7 are going to be especially tricky.

It is not going to be easy for any of the racers. This track has proven to take its toll on cars. a number of tyre failures, some being fatal as far as scoring points is concerned, has been seen in past. Also, it is summer now in Britain, so there is likely going to be one or two showers which racers will have to tackle with. There can be other troubles as well. There is going to be two DRS zones in this circuit, well spaced out and strategically placed.

The races have gone quite similar to the odds predicated at beginning. Lewis Hamilton had highest odds followed by Nico Rosberg. Racers like Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas have performed worse than their odds suggested while Nico Hulkenberg from Force India performed better.

The actual race is going to take place over the weekends, with qualifiers being scheduled for Saturday and actual Race on Sunday. However, practices will start from Friday at 10 a.m. SO this is going to be a good end to a racing week in the form of British Grand Prix of 2014.
