Newest Crossover Nissan Kicks Debuts Cramped Between Juke And Qashqai
|   Wednesday, May 18, 2016
Nissan found space between the Juke and Qashqai to develop a unique crossover. The new Nissan Kicks takes over part of the conventional lines of the Qashqai, but comes with the Juke's cool factor.

Automotive segments have become a nebula in recent years not just for car lovers, but also for specialists who struggle to righty place rivals in the same class side by side, to make more accurate comparisons.

However, manufacturers tend to mix so much the positioning of models and build cars so close in size, that in some cases it is almost impossible to define the cars which have just been launched.
This is the case for the new Nissan Kicks, an urban crossover that has just been introduced in Brazil. But this model will be released in most markets on which the Japanese brand activates.

Presented as a B-segment crossover Kicks treads on territory dominated by the Nissan Juke today. However, the difference is made by sizes, because the new Nissan Kicks is positioned between the Juke and Qashqai.

The story resembles that of Skoda trying to impose in the compact C class, where the Rapid and Octavia are in the same segment, but are placed in the lower and upper parts of this class.

The new Nissan Kicks (4,295 millimeters in length) is 16 centimeters longer than the Juke, but 8.2 centimeters shorter than the Qashqai. But in terms of width (1,760 millimeters) it is narrower than both by about 5 centimeters. In height (1,590 mm), the new Kicks is 0.5 centimeters shorter than the Qashqai, but 2.5 centimeters taller than the Juke. The dimensions recommend it as the direct rival of SUVs / crossovers in the B + segment, being positioned in the area of Suzuki Vitara, Opel Mokka, Fiat 500X, or Ford EcoSport.

Obviously, it remains to be seen which will be the logic of the car when Kicks will receive an official price list, which will happen in 2017.
The front grille, reminiscent of the letter V profile, optical blocks and general style of the car hint at the lines recently presented by Nissan on its larger crossovers, the Qashqai and X-Trail.

However, in the first images provided by Nissan we see several elements which point to the Juke's playful two-tone bodywork style and the fact that the interior matches the exterior is the best argument in this regard.

The interior of the Nissan Kicks promises to offer the space which was asked by those who wanted a Juke, but gave up the idea because of the limited dimensions in the trunk and rear seats.

The board comes with interesting lines and a central display with a diagonal of 7 inches, the driver's position at the steering wheel is high and the car provides technological elements that begin to cover the entire Nissan range, like the Around View Monitor (the car is seen from above at parking with video cameras) or package of safety systems together, under the umbrella of the Safety Shield.

The new Nissan Kicks will be officially launched in the first phase in South America during this fiscal year and later, in the spring of 2017, it's to be presented in other 80 markets on which the brand from Japan operates.
