New Volvo XC90 - bigger and more elegant than the concept
|   Sunday, September 15, 2013
Volvo has previously announced that the XC90 is going to be released at the beginning of 2015 but it seems now that the company has reconsidered. The event that will host the debut of the latest XC90 is the Paris Motor Show, next year in September.

However, rumor has it the vehicle will be available on the market, in the show rooms only at the beginning of 2015 and that it will be sold first in the United Kingdom, at a confirmed starting price of £40,000.

It seems that the inspiration to create this model came indeed from the Volvo Concept Coupe which has just been made public at the great event of this fall, the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Exactly as the photographers pictured in the teaser photos, the upcoming vehicle will feature the same design of the front part as the previous one, except for the fact that it will include a totally new and improved floating grille.

Closely examining the spy photos makes you definitely think that the concept car was a lot smaller and that the new XC90 includes extended versions of the iron mark and Volvo trademark. Also, the series version does not include the LED tail lights shaped into a wide C as they definitely would not really match with the vertical lamp units of the SUV.

Those who are very into high tech latest releases should be happy to know that the latest XC90 will have an iPad sized main touchscreen placed exactly in the middle of the panel. This has also been confirmed Thomas Ingenlath, the senior vice president of design. Thus, all of the buttons on the dash will be now replaced by this elegant screen which gives the interior a rather contemporary, elegant look.

What is even more, the incredible Sensus Connected Touch infotainment system designed by Volvo will definitely be included on the latest XC90. Through this smart system the driver will be able to use music applications such as Spotify or TuneIn internet radio. Also, a very useful Google maps navigation together with weather info will be featured.

Depending on the preferences, the system will use Android or Windows and through Sensus Connected Touch the driver will be able to download several special applications developed by Volvo Asteroid.

We must admit that when it comes to technology, Volvo is indeed on the top of the list, always offering and integrating the latest high tech options and instruments transforming the vehicles into really intelligent gadgets.

It seems that the latest XC90 will be the most powerful version of this model, featuring a 2.0 liter, four cylinder petrol engine which will be enhanced by a supercharger. Also, the turbo kicks are meant to boost the power and make the vehicle able to produce 302 bhp and output of 400bhp and 600Nm of torque.
The company representatives have states that another version of 1.5 liter turbocharged three cyclinder should be available soon. All in all, Volvo fans should be excited by this new release and eagerly wait for the production.
