New Volkswagen Passat: List Of Future Diesel And Gasoline Engine List
|   Monday, June 30, 2014
The new generation of the popular Volkswagen Passat will officially debut the next month with a series of innovative technologies and a highly varied range of engines. Several international media sources are already talking about complete technical data disclosed in a presentation held in Asia.

According to them, the new generation of the mid-size sedan will be 4767 mm long, approximately the same as the current model, but will weigh up to 85 kg less thanks to the new structure on which is built.

The new Passat will adopt the standard LED taillights, and provide in the list of options LED headlights with Dynamic Light Assist. The interior will see an increase in terms of material quality used, and will benefit from a number of new technologies: 360-degree head-up display, park assist, and digital instruments with the size of 12.3 inches and a resolution of 1440 x 540 pixels.

Another feature of the new VW Passat is the Assistant Traffic Systems. This system contains a rear warning system about the traffic, with a lateral assistance and blind spot detection. It will also add a town braking function, and lane keeping assistant to the car.

The system will warn the driver, first with an alarm then a logo flashes when the driver deviates from his lane. If the driver does not react to this, a feedback on the brake pedal will try to attract the driver's attention.

Important news can be found on the engines chapter too, with the German model having a wide range of powertrain options. Diesel units will include a 1.6-liter engine with 120 horsepower, joined by three other power versions of the 2.0 TDI engine. It will have 150 hp, 190 hp and 240 hp.

For those who prefer gasoline units, Volkswagen will offer the popular 1.4 TSI engine in the 150 hp and 125 hp power versions. Thus, the former will benefit from ACT technology that allows disabling some cylinders during a less intense operating regime. For more horsepower, there will be the 1.8 TSI engine, with 180 hp, and the 2.0 TSI versions of 220 hp and 280 horsepower, respectively.

All engines will comply with Euro 6 emissions standards, and will be available with manual transmissions by the well known dual-clutch automatic gearbox DSG, and 4Motion all wheel drive.

In the months immediately following the launch, Volkswagen will introduce a hybrid version, powered by a gasoline engine and an electric one. The latter is kept alive by a lithium-ion battery of 9.9 kWh. This battery will be able to provide a pure electric range of 51 kilometers.

After having exhausted the electric current, the tank will ensure a total autonomy of 966 kilometers.
The hybrid version, will be supplied from domestic outlets, and will benefit from a connector located behind the VW logo, on the front grille.

The debut of the new Passat will be recorded next month at a live presentation scheduled for the Paris Motor Show. Only after that event will the first orders be taken.
