New Skoda Octavia Scout With Improved Towing Capacity And Off-Road Performance
|   Thursday, August 21, 2014
The new Skoda Octavia Scout arrives on the market with a robust and attractive design, the most advanced all-wheel drive, powerful engines and fuel consumption reduced by up to 20 percent, plus a towing capacity 25 percent higher.

A pioneer, adventurer for the whole family and a very good vehicle to tow large burdens, the new Skoda Octavia Scout is a versatile and powerful car, both on the asphalt and off-road.

Thanks to the cutting-edge technology of the all-wheel drive, which uses a Haldex-5 coupling, high-performance engines, increased ground clearance, improved approach angle and rough road package fitted on the new Skoda Octavia Scout, the car now provides unlimited possibilities, even on rough terrain.

The new Skoda Octavia Scout 2015 has a 25 percent greater towing capacity, reaching two tons. Despite the increase in power, the fuel consumption and emissions of the new Skoda Octavia Scout has been reduced by 20 percent compared to the previous model.

In addition to the advanced level of functionality, numerous Simply Clever features, and the latest technology for safety and comfort, the new Octavia Scout also imposes new standards for towing capacity when facing an uphill climb and travel over rough terrain.

"The new Octavia Scout shows that it is just as comfortable being on the road as it is off-road. The vehicle stands out from the crowd with its rugged, powerful and attractive looks. The new Skoda Scout perfectly combines form and function", stated Frank Welsch, Skoda board member for development.

The electronic differential lock (EDL), available in the standard equipment, ensures comfortable start-up at low speeds. EDL acts on both front and rear axle and performs as a blockage between the wheels. The new Octavia Scout includes as standard an electronic stability control system (ESC). The two-stage ESC module can be adapted to suit different driving conditions with the push of a button. This allows the driver to start or stop the traction control system as needed.

For off-road use, the new Octavia Scout has a higher ground clearance. Compared to the standard Octavia, the increase is 31 mm, for a total of 171 millimeters. In addition, the rough road package with supplementary underbody shields is now standard. This protects the underside of the car against mechanical damage and prevents dirt entering the engine compartment. The components of the lower part of the car, as well as the brake pipes and fuel are also protected with plastic elements.

The new engine of the Octavia Scout is stronger by 20 percent and more environment-friendly. There are three engines, one on petrol and two diesels. Fuel savings arise from a 29 kg weight cut, all-wheel drive technology improvements and the use of efficient Green tec engines with Start-Stop system, and the function to recover braking energy, all as standard equipment. All three engines meet the EU6 emissions standard requirements, which will come into force in September 2014.

The new Octavia Scout is based on Skoda's extraordinary experience in automotive design that is suitable for use in off-road. The Czech car manufacturer now offers six models with a special off-road design: Octavia Scout, Fabia Scout, Fabia Combi Scout, Roomster Scout plus the Yeti Outdoor, and the Superb with Outdoor Package.
