|   Monday, September 19, 2016
In an official event held in Berlin, Skoda unveiled the world's new Kodiaq. This is the first model in Skoda’s history that sees a lot of technology.
Developed on the same MQB platform like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Seat Ateca, the new Skoda Kodiaq is bigger than them, giving a total length of 4.7 meters (exactly 4697 mm, 40 mm longer than the Octavia). The exact dimensions are: length 4,697 mm, width 1,882 mm, height 1,676 mm and a wheelbase of 2,791 mm.
It is precisely these characteristics that make it one of the roomier SUVs on the market and the first in the history of Skoda model that can be ordered in a version with seven seats.

The interior of the Skoda Kodiaq will be one of the most spacious in the segment. The trunk with electric opening will have a capacity of 720 liters under normal circumstances and 2065 liters when the back seats are folded.
In addition, in the case of the Kodiaq, if opting for folding front passenger seat, the SUV can carry objects up to 2.8 meters long. Moreover, the second row seats can slide 18 cm and the backrest is adjustable.

The interior makes room for new technologies and a total of 30 Simply Clever solutions. Among them we have heated steering wheel, electrical door lock for children, protection for opening doors when parking in tight spaces and headrests designed to allow you to sleep relatively well in the car. The usual solutions like umbrella hidden in the door, or squeegee hidden in reservoir cap are present too.

Technology enthusiasts will find inside the new Kodiaq a rear view video camera, overlooking 360 degrees, advanced connectivity for smart phones via adaptive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, WiFi router to which passengers can connect, automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian recognition function, adaptive cruise control, traffic signs reader, and parking assistant function when the Kodiaq is towing a trailer.

The new Kodiaq is extremely lightweight, having a weight of just 1,452 kg in its basic version, or 1,540 kg with a 1.4 TSI engine and all-wheel drive system. The new Kodiaq will be offered with five engines, three petrol - 1.4 TSI in two versions of power, 125 hp (200 Nm torque) and 150 hp (250 Nm of torque), the latter being equipped with the system to disable two of the four cylinders and one 2.0 TSI with 180 hp (320 Nm of torque).

The diesel units are a 2.0 TDI, available in two versions of power - 150 horsepower (340 Nm of torque) and 190 hp (400 Nm torque). The 150 hp version consumes on average just a 5.0 l / 100 km, while the 190 hp variant will be the most powerful, with start from 0 to 100 km / h of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 210 km / h. The engines will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission, a robotic DSG double-clutch 6-speed or an absolutely new 7-speed DSG, which can handle torque of up to 600 Nm!

New Skoda Kodiaq will appear on the market in March 2017. With the premiere of the new Kodiaq, Skoda announced that it is developing hybrid and pure electric vehicles which will appear in the coming years. This means we can expect more surprises, a lot more!
