New Rally Fighter from Chevrolet and Camaro Gathers the Crowd Interest
|   Monday, July 21, 2014
Local Motors is planning to make a next generation sports car that got a lot of popularity after making Rally Fighter. This is its next project which is a very big project to develop a sport car which will breed a road and track variant. Few sports cars lovers did want this from LM as the previous version of sports car from LM was a terrific one.

The collaborative community quality of Local Motors makes the sports car much better. This is the belief of its fans and followers.
Also the engineering and design of it is really crowd sourced and the next generation vehicles are expected to score more. Across the globe car lovers are more becoming keen to test drive LM's engineered car.

Local Motors has the motto to make a platform which will act as host to run two cars that are totally different from each other. One of them would have bare chassis, track based car just like Ariel Atom style or like KTM X-bow design. And another will be like a legal road coupe oriented car made in similar platform of a track based car. LM has decided to keep the design as coupe at the very begin but later it would think to make it a track car like design.

Though the preparation and planning has been up to the mark but few parameters are yet to be specified. It still lacks the name without which it has no way to be introduced in market. It will have a manual transmission and clutch will be there for the purists and independent front and rear suspensions will help it even more.

It will have an as much as 250 horse power engine with four turbo charged cylinders. OEM engine options will be there including Cobalt SS, Focus ST and VW Golf GTI. The head of development and research of Local Motors who is also the Community Manager believes that company works in the mantra of value out of the box. Intention is very clear to make such engines which can provide with the warranties that customers would want.

Currently the chassis of this car is under construction. Most probably the chassis solution will be provided by setting up tube frame such as the making of Ariel Atom. Few other mechanism can be referred which includes the making of Lotus Evora. Rumors say that it may include a 3-D printed chassis which can be a fact if the manufacturers make it possible in real scenario. These are planned to be weigh around 1600 pounds or even lesser than that.

Price of this model is planned to be around $30K. But on road price will higher because it will hold a steeper charge since LM likes to add more comforts such as air condition and other interesting things. A further rough estimate suggests it would be $65K. Though projects run for several years to finish but Local Motors has been working on this project all the time and promises to manufacture and launch very soon.
