New Mitsubishi L200: European Premiere At The 2015 Geneva Motor Show
|   Monday, March 02, 2015
After nine years (and over 1.3 million units produced), the fourth generation Mitsubishi L200 pick-up is about to be withdrawn. It will be followed by the introduction of the fifth generation that will be unveiled at the International Salon in Geneva.

The strategic and representative model for Mitsubishi, the L200 was developed as a concept of the "Ultimate Sport Utility Track" which sets new standards for reliability, strength, interior comfort and maneuverability in order to meet the needs of global pick-up customers.

The new aluminum MIVEC turbocharged 2.4-liter diesel (4N15) engine along with low rolling resistance enables lower CO2 emissions by 17 percent compared to the previous model. The new version of the L200 comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and achieves minimum CO2 emissions of 169 g / km.

The new 4N15 engine generates 133 kW (181 hp / 430 Nm)/113 kW (154 hp / 380 Nm) at low speeds, and provides enough power even when fully loaded. The new model features a new manual gearbox with 6 transmission ratios, and a new automatic gearbox with five transmission ratios to improve performance and lower maintenance costs.

The new sporty style keeps the expressive the characteristic lateral line, the prominent type "J-Line" element of the previous L200 (Double Cab) variant, while achieving a low drag coefficient value of 0.40 Cx, and maintaining weight within reasonable limits, all in order to obtain an excellent power to weight ratio.

Interior noise level is extremely low because of the new diesel engine and soundproofing measures applied on the body. The interior cabin noise is so quiet that you can have a normal conversation between front and rear passengers even when running on the highway or off-road.

A significant step was achieved in the perceived interior quality, combined with seats that ensure a more relaxing driving position, improved comfort during travel and all new features are designed to provide an enjoyable and relaxing experience throughout the journey with the new model.

An added convenience is provided by the ingenious access system to the passenger compartment by a particular method: by opening the doors to the outside, available on Club Cab version.

The new L200 offers enhanced maneuverability due to faster than before gear change. At the same time, it keeps the smallest turning radius in its segment of 5.9 m.
Using the know-how acquired globally by its predecessor, the new L200's reliability and endurance have improved significantly, owing to their design and by refining and strengthening the body structure which increased by 7 percent the chassis' resistance to torsion in order to withstand severe operating conditions.

Reduced maintenance costs are achieved by increasing the interval for engine oil change from 15,000 km to 20,000 km, the interval of coolant changed from 60,000 km to 180,000 km, and the oil change interval for automatic transmission is now unlimited, along with improved corrosion treatment and others.

The passive safety is enhanced by developing the new RISE bodywork patented by MMC, equipped with seven airbags (front, side, curtain and driver's knee).
The new L200 will be built by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand for global markets and will be released in Europe this summer and will be available in Club Cab and Double Cab versions.
