New Jaguar E-PACE Debuts and Scores Guinness Record
|   Monday, August 07, 2017
With its debut, the new Jaguar E-Pace has also scored a place in the Guinness Book of Records by performing the extremely dangerous trick called “barrel roll”. The car jumped off the trampoline, twisting around its axis 270 degrees, flying 15.3 meters, and landing on its wheels!

Behind the steering wheel was the professional stuntman Terry Grant. With this jump Terry Grant was hit by 5.5 Gs in force. This is the longest jump, ever made by a series car.

Jaguar approached the SUV segment with a certain delay, but it stepped up the game right from the first attempt. Specifically, the first SUV in its history, the F-PACE, won the coveted title of World Car of the Year 2017.

Now, Jaguar gives us the same flair with the second SUV, called E-Pace, in the compact category. With 4,395 mm in length, it will rival models like the BMW X1 (4,439 mm) and the future BMW X2, or the Audi Q3 (4,388 mm).

Aesthetics alone will attract many admirers to Jaguar's E-PACE, and technical specifications are thought to tempt customers interested in dynamic skills. The E-PACE has an all-wheel drive system that can send all of the engine's torque to the rear wheels, for the typical rear-wheel drive feeling, or the front axle wheels for a fuel consumption as efficient as possible.

The Active Driveline system is able to distribute 100 percent of torque to the wheel outside the turn to ensure stability during turns. And every 10 milliseconds, Active Driveline analyzes driving conditions (driver requirements, road condition) to calculate the optimum torque to reach each wheel.
In the linear drive, no requirements or sports maneuvers, the torque is only distributed to the front wheels. However, re-coupling for torque transmission to the rear axle occurs in just 300 milliseconds.

All E-Pace versions come standard with the Jaguar Touch Pro infotainment system, a 10-inch screen (as good as smart phones), 4G connectivity, and many important applications. This system can be completed with a 12.3 inch TFT display for the board instruments, something like the Audi Virtual Cockpit and Jaguar offers, as an option, the latest version of a head-up display too.

Under the hood of the new E-PACE two supercharged petrol engines with a displacement of 2.0 liters can be found, belonging to the Ingenium family with 249 horsepower (torque 365 Nm) and 300 hp (400 Nm of torque).
The strongest version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 243 km / h. There is also the 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel version available in three power versions - 150 hp (380 Nm torque ), 180 hp (430 Nm torque) and 240 hp (500 Nm torque). The front-wheel drive diesel version shows a combined consumption of only 4.7 l / 100 km. The engines can be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission or the 9-speed automatic transmission.

The new Jaguar E-PACE has a series of technologies designed to improve safety, including airbags for pedestrians, blind spot monitoring system and road marking and autonomous braking system with pedestrian detection.

Even if it is the smallest SUV in Jaguar's range, the E-PACE offers an appreciable utility level. The luggage compartment is 577 liters, the loading space is 1,234 liters when the rear seat backrests are folded, and the tailgate opens by moving the foot under the rear spoiler.
