New Images Of The Next Generation Skoda Superb
|   Tuesday, March 03, 2015
Skoda presented in the Czech Republic the new generation of the Superb. After more than 700,000 units sold, the model from Mlada Boleslav reached the third generation. It was designed by a team led by Jozef Kaban and enjoys a bold design that is different from the previous generation. Public debut of the model will be held in March at the Geneva Motor Show (March 5 to 15, 2015).

The Superb is now sharper than ever and has a new profile. The ceiling is more inclined in the back, and the C pillars were extended to the trunk lid and rear wings.

At the rear level, we note a set of LED taillights which presents the Czech brand's bright signature. The rear doors have the same line of windows as its younger brothers, the Rapid and Octavia model, only at a larger scale. Of course the portfolio of rims and colors is generous and different from the previous generation.

We note the new look of the front and the back of the new Superb, probably the most successful from a stylistic point of view at the entire Skoda range level. The taillights present a completely new form for the Czech Republic brand while the optical blocks are reminiscent of those on the Audi A8 without appearing as a cheap copy.

The engine range of the third generation Skoda Superb offers eight engines at the time of launch. All meet the Euro 6 and come with Start-Stop technology and kinetic energy recovery systems as standard. The engine range provides power from 120 hp to 280 hp and all engines except for the entry-level petrol can be ordered with a DSG transmission. Four of the eight engines are offered in the company of a four-wheel drive system, Haldex 5.

Petrol engines offer between 125 hp and 280 hp and are five in number. The diesel engines provide between 120 hp and 190 hp, and account for the remaining three engines from the offer. The hybrid version of the model, announced as a possibility by some voices, was neither confirmed nor refuted by representatives from Mlada Boleslav. As in the case of previous generations it will not be offered a vRS performance version. It was already confirmed that the GreenLine version will come to life and will have a combined fuel consumption of 3.7 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 95 grams per kilometer.

In terms of multimedia systems, the new generation Skoda Superb is provided with four units based on MIB technology (Modularer Infotainment-Baukasten) from Volkswagen. Top Multimedia System, Columbus, is offered optionally together with 4G internet connection, a first for a Skoda model. Also, through SmartLink, which includes MirrorLink, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, the driver can use his smartphone via vehicle controls dramatically reducing the risk of accidents by the driver taking his attention from the road and offering a high level of connectivity. The Canton audio system, offered optionally, comes with 12 speakers and offers 610W for your enjoyment.
