New Hyundai Elantra Presented At Los Angeles Auto Show
|   Monday, November 30, 2015
Hyundai Elantra had already appeared to the public a few months ago in Korea and these days it has made its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. If from a visual point of view it is not a revelation, the technology it has comes with many changes.

The new aspect of the model is a moderate change, but keeps the trend of Hyundai giving a premium note to new models. It keeps the imposing grille and LED daytime running lights, ensuring a refined look to the front part.
In terms of sizes the new Elantra is just an idea longer, but keeps the same amount of wheelbase as its predecessor.

Although it has retained the recognizable character of its predecessor, the new Elantra has adapted a more sophisticated and premium design, which is reflected in the chrome trapezoidal mangle and narrow headlights, which give the model a more aggressive look both at the front side and also at the back.

The elongated and lowered hood gives to the new Elantra a more dynamic and aerodynamics silhouette (drag coefficient of just 0.27). The bodywork of the new Elantra is built using high-strength steels in a ratio of 53 percent, which increased torsional rigidity by 29.5 percent, while the soundproofing was improved by 25.3 percent. The carmaker says the new Elantra uses double the amount of advanced high-strength steel as the previous model as well as 40 times more aeronautics-grade structural adhesive.

Inside, Hyundai designers have pursued a horizontal layout development and used metal elements, keeping the trend of premium air. As a high tech novelty, there is now a choice of two new infotainment systems, offered optionally, both capable of running the Android Auto operating system. The first has a 7 inch screen, which can display the rearview camera information too, and the second is 8 inches, and includes a navigation system.

Although it largely retained the exterior dimensions, the interior volume has increased considerably; the Hyundai Elantra is classified as a mid-range model that stands over the Audi A4 with interior space and a greater luggage compartment volume.

An engine that will be especially appreciated is the 2 liter petrol unit that works with an Atkinson cycle, which offers 150 horsepower. It will be linked, depending on the chosen equipment level either with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed all automatic one. More interesting for Europeans will be the new supercharged 1.4 liter engine with 130 hp, which will come bundled with a dual-clutch automatic transmission with seven gears (EcoShift).
Motoring GDI, part of the Kappa family, will deliver 130 hp at 5,500 rev / min and 210 Nm of torque between 1,400 and 3,700 rev / min. The average fuel consumption will be 8.1 l / 100 km.

Handling and comfort have also been improved. The Koreans paid great attention to active and passive safety through the implementation of various electronic warning systems, including autonomous braking system, which will bring top results in safety tests.
