Ford has presented the new Ford Mondeo's technological secrets. In a live broadcast, a number of Ford specialist talked about all the systems present on the new Ford model that will be released this fall.

The new Mondeo is the latest product in the "One Ford" philosophy. In accordance with this, the brand's models are global products which will be sold all around the world markets. The new Focus has opened this way when the model was first launched on the American market, and now it's set to arrive in Europe.
The same pattern is followed now by the new Mondeo. It is identical to the model that already rides in the United States under the name Fusion for nearly two years.

The European version of the Ford Mondeo will be offered for sale with a new 2.0-liter TDCi diesel engine, which will be available in two power versions: 150 hp and 180 hp. The engine uses a variable geometry turbocharger and the engine block has been completely revised. The diesel engine can be paired with Ford's all-wheel drive system. In the European range an economic Mondeo 1.6 TDCI will exist and, but about this version not many details were disclosed.

For those who prefer gasoline, the new Mondeo will be fitted with two EcoBoost turbo units. The first one is a 1.5-liter unit is produced at Craiova, Romania, and offers 160 hp. The second option is the powerful 2.0 Ecoboost, which will provide 200 hp or 240 hp.

More great news for Mondeo is the presence of a hybrid version. It will be manufactured in Europe, at Ford's plant in Valencia, Spain. The hybrid system consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine combined with two electric motors and a battery pack. The total power of the hybrid system is 187 horsepower and Ford says that this version will have an average fuel consumption of just 4.2 liters / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 99 g / km.

Ford also revealed that the engine range will be expanded in 2015 with a top diesel rated at 210 hp and a torque of 450 Nm at 2,000 rpm. This engine replaces the old 2.2-liter TDCi unit and its 200 hp. The new 2.0-liter diesel engine will use two turbines sequentially placed and electronically controlled.

Also in 2015 the engine range will see the now famous gasoline 1.0 Ecoboost. Compared to the versions already on the Fiesta and Focus models, the propellant used by Mondeo has been optimized to meet D class sedan size and will offer 125 hp.

All versions of the engine will have an active grille that can close a portion of the front air intakes, Start-Stop system for electric power steering and recovering kinetic energy.

The automatic parking system that allows reverse parking should be noted too, in addition to parallel parking. When the system is activated, the driver acts just the pedals and gear shifter with the steering wheel driven automatically.

The new Ford Mondeo is 4.8 meters in length and the wheelbase is identical to the previous model: 2,850 mm. The outer dimensions are overall very similar to those of the current generation, with only the height being smaller. The new Mondeo will come as a four-door sedan, five-door hatchback and wagon.
