New Ford GT Will Get 700-Horsepower Engine
|   Monday, June 15, 2015
The new Ford GT was introduced in January at Detroit, in a pre-series version, aiming to reach series production in 2016 in order to fight and conquer the market with the best supercars in the world.

Ford engineers say the new GT waived the V8 engine in favor of the new V6 EcoBoost displacing 3.5 liters, but did not specify what power it will have. Note that a widely circulated figure is around 600 horsepower. The bore and stroke of the engine will be identical to those displayed by serial applications existing on models such as the F150 Raptor.

The new GT will boast low weight thanks to the use of full carbon fiber monocoque structure and body panels. The rest of the structure, front and rear, is made of aluminum. The panels and carbon fiber elements will be made right in their native country by American specialists from Multimatic Motorsports and Engineering.
Currently, the journalists from Card and Driver come with some more information and a more promising figure regarding the engine: 700 horsepower, which means that it does not fight with Lamborghini Huracan and others, but rather the Lamborghini Aventador.

Unlike the previous generation, the new Ford GT will be not just a supercar, but also a computer on wheels, equipped with 50 sensors and 28 microprocessors, which will analyze 300 mb/second and 6 different CAN networks, capable of transmitting 3000 system messages in tandem. The sensors will analyze the accelerator position, outside temperature, position of the active rear spoiler and tire pressure.

The cabin of the new Ford GT is going to be narrow in order to improve as much as possible the aerodynamic coefficient of the supercar, which benefits from many air channels styled in some complicated and modern forms. Also, the vehicle weight will be reduced even further by a most radical solution: the rims will be constructed of carbon fiber and have a single central clamping, and under them, hidden, will be the carbon-ceramic brakes signed by Brembo.

The design is also worthy of the title of supercar. The front part alludes to the classic GT40, but the rest of the car comes 100 percent from the future. Even standing still, the car seems glued to the surface on which it sits firmly. The rear is dominated by the two exhausts with a pipe cannon diameter, and the Ford GT comes with active aerodynamic elements which are observed only at certain speeds.

Car and Driver also says that Ford will go even further, presenting in the following month the new GT racing version for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What will be the fate of that fireball nobody knows, but the model series could be produced in large part by the Canadian company Multimatic Motorsports, which in the past has built lightweight materials for the fascinating Aston Martin One-77, produced between 2009 and 2012.

More interesting is that the production version of the Ford GT will come with a range of high performance mechanical equipment and multiple driving modes: Normal, Sport, Track, and Wet. The series model will appear by the end of 2016 and the price will be about 400,000 dollars.
Ford plans to build 250 GT cars per year for 4 years.
