New BMW 7 Series Generation Reveals Top Technologies In First Official Photo Gallery
|   Monday, June 22, 2015
BMW presented the first official pictures of the new generation 7 Series. The German manufacturer will launch the new generation of its flagship this fall, but it published a generous photo gallery already with a prototype of the series version close to the next BMW 7 Series.

The new generation of the BMW 7 Series has reduced the total weight by up to 130 kg, thanks to the new construction techniques. We are talking about a material called CFRP, carbon fiber reinforced plastic, used for various components of the vehicle to reduce its total mass.
Changes have been implemented in the passenger compartment too, the "protective cage" of the cabin and the inspiration for these solutions being the BMW i3, the first large series model in the world which has this cage made entirely from carbon fiber.

In addition to the adaptive self-leveling air suspension in the front and rear, the new BMW 7 Series generation now enjoys significant handling and suspension novelties. The control driving experience that allowed switching between Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro modes, among others, now has and an adaptive mode, which changes reactions of the vehicle depending on driving style and road conditions. The adaptive dampers have become standard, and the car is offered for the first time with self-leveling air suspension for both decks. Because of these changes, the 7 Series aims to provide a level of maneuverability and comfort unprecedented in the segment.

The multimedia unit control system uses driver gestures. It detects the driver's hand gestures, allowing quiet operation, without touch, and without regard to commands related to multimedia system, such as answering calls.

It is also possible to set custom gestures for specific functions, which means that the vehicle can activate a function just by moving a hand in front of the multimedia system, a feature unprecedented in the automotive industry.

Major updates applied to 7 Series with the new generation bring new features like cruise control and driver assistance systems, such as speed control which limits speed depending on the speed limits imposed on a road segment and on readings taken by onboard cameras or radar.

Cruise control now has an automatic tread hold function through small interventions in the steering system and this function is provided at speeds of up to 210 km / h. As long as the driver keeps his hands on the wheel the system is active. International regulations restrict this system only at the specified function, but it is possible to implement a complete autopilot system on the highway, with the technologies found on this model, just as it is possible for its direct rival from Mercedes-Benz.

In addition, the vehicle does not allow leaving the lane when another vehicle is in the blind spot, thereby risking a collision, as long as driver assistance systems are enabled along with the active cruise control active.

The icing on the luxury cake from the BMW 7 Series is the remote parking system that uses the remote control which already has replaced the old key. In other words, in cramped garages or in crowded parking spots, the BMW 7 Series can be controlled via BMW Display Key to be taken out of the parking space, and can leave the space in fully automatic mode only at the driver's order.
