New Audi Q7 SUV to generate more power with less weight
|   Wednesday, January 21, 2015
Amongst the most appreciated SUVs, Audi's many luxurious SUV models are really popular. One of them is Q7 which has an elongated tooth and a longer body. Even its size is increased still its weight has been reduced and lots more improvements have been applied to make it more efficient and larger interior. It was appeared for the first time in public during the Detroit's Auto show in January, 2015.

Till now, Audi has released only the European version of the new Q7.
Only a few details of it have been leaked till yet. Only top essential information can be mentioned right now. Company had declined to reveal any internal information regarding this model. After a few days of its debut the rest details will be mentioned to customers.

As expected, Audi worked a lot to drop a few pounds from its new Q7 as compared to its previous version. It's likely to be 716 pounds which this model is going to lose and now it will weigh about 4,398 pounds for the 3.0 TDI Q7 versions. By using a large amount of aluminum, they managed to reduce such a big amount of weight. The key areas like doors, hood, rear and front fenders have been made of mostly aluminum.

The shape of Q7 has been designed in a totally unique manner, like a wagon having smaller footprints. Its dimensions have shrunk to 1.5 inches from bumpers where as width becomes 6/10th of one inch narrower. Its height remains unchanged but the shape is a bit slippery because of its extensive aerodynamic constructions including an underbody with a smaller spoiler near its rear axle. At its back, its cargo has load height as 1.8 inches which makes it easier access to cargo.

The upcoming Q7 which got its debut in this year's Detroit Auto Show, is mixed with gasoline engines and diesel. Combined with aero works and improved engine, this model has saved a lot of weight to increase fuel efficiency. Around 26 percent fuel efficiency has been recorded while having test drives with it. As per a report, it is going to have 252 hp, turbo 2.0 liter four cylinders for Asian market and U.S Showrooms.

The most happening power train of Q7 is its plug in having e-tron Quattro launched first time in Europe. As per Audi, it has the first ever hybrid plug in having diesel with all wheeled drive which can run using a battery powered by lithium ion for around 35 miles. It will get 0-62 miles per hour within 6 seconds only with a maximum speed of 139.8 miles per hour.

Audi has not increased the new Q7's size too much but yet managed to increase interior space efficiency. The problem linked with this model is the massive exterior with dinky interior. But latest Q7 has been designed with seven or five occupants who feature more space inside in both first row and second row. Its head room is now up by 1.6 inches for the first row and 9/10ths inch for second row sitting passengers. This model has already made its debut in NAIAS 2015 Detroit Auto Show recently. So stay tuned to get more updates.
