New Acura NSX Announced Via Official Teaser
|   Friday, December 26, 2014
After it has tested customer tastes in 2012 through an NSX concept, the Acura premium division of Honda will bring in January 2015 a new generation of the series model with the same name. One of the most beloved Honda sport models, is thus on its way to greet us soon.

Acura has announced through a teaser that they will launch at the Auto Show in Detroit, which will debut on January 12th, including the journalists preview day, with a production version of the NSX model.
Expected since 2005, when Honda decided to get out of the sport range, mainly because of poor sales volumes and profitability, the new generation NSX will serve to improve the image of Honda and Acura brands in the United States, where premium brand sales are below the average market growth.

The model will be infused with the production design and specifications of the mid-engine Acura supercar that will launch in 2015. To mark the forthcoming debut of NSX, Acura released a 30-second teaser video that offers a glimpse of the new model as well as the sound of its three-motor, twin-turbocharged Sport Hybrid power plant.

The new NSX will be produced at Honda's plant from Marysville, Ohio, and the final design of the production model was finished at the Japanese studio found in California. Honda spent close to 70 million dollars to transform a former logistics center into the Performance Manufacturing Center to create the car with such an advanced body.

The NSX becomes a pure American model, even if European launch plans are also pending. Although the final design of this model is not yet know, the NSX will draw inspiration from the concept with the same name that Acura introduced in 2012 at the Detroit auto show.

"The next-generation NSX will deliver a 'new sports experience' true to its heritage and to the supercar concept that originally gave rise to the name NSX. The NSX will serve as the ultimate expression of Acura performance that is fueling a reenergized brand" stated Mike Accavitti, Acura division senior vice president and general manager.

The Acura NSX concept model made its debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, where Honda President and CEO Takanobu Ito announced that development of a next-gen NSX would launch in 3 years, spearheaded by an American R&D team and manufactured at a new plant in Ohio.

"After three years of intensive development work we are excited to reveal this next-generation supercar-the Acura NSX-to the world. We've developed a human-centered supercar that responds to the will of the driver and that builds upon the NSX heritage" chief engineer and global project leader over NSX development Ted Klaus said.
"2015 is the year of Honda" said John Mendel, executive vice president of the automobile division.

Among other releases, Honda getting ready with a new Honda Pilot SUV in the spring, a re-engineered Ridgeline pickup, Acura ILX and updates for the Acura RDX and MDX crossovers, as well as a new family of small turbocharged engines that will be made at the Anna engine plant.
