New 2015 Hyundai i20 - First Images Before Start Of Paris Motor Show

Hyundai is preparing to launch the new i20 generation. The model was designed and engineered in Europe and illustrates the 2.0 version of the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy.

The Hyundai i20 will get a new generation in 2015, which will have a design adapted to the current aesthetic line of the brand. The new generation of the subcompact has not yet been officially presented, but brand representatives have begun the teasing campaign, with the publication of two official design sketches in anticipation of unveiling the production version.

The Koreans wanted a car as suitable for the old continent so they designed the new i20 at their design center in Russelsheim, Germany. The design language used is also called Fluidic Sculpture, a philosophy launched four years ago, and it reached version 2.0 afterwards, according to the South Korean brand representatives.

The new i20 is characterized by a large hexagonal front grille, long hood and big optical blocks.
Unfortunately, not all features present in the copy of the accompanying drawings will arrive on the production model, as is the case of the larger wheels and aggressive profile midline.
At the posterior level we can note a trick to the C-pillar design, showing a dark ornament to create the illusion that it is discontinued.

Also at the back will can see a smaller rear window, and a set of optical blocks with sporty design, as shown by the sketch design. The top variant will have chrome door handles, alloy wheels with a diamond-shaped design and the exterior mirrors will have integrated signaling. The new Hyundai i20 also sees a modified tailgate design together with a new bumper with integrated reflectors.

Of course, the two drafts submitted by the Koreans do not involve many elements found in traditional car production, such as the handles to open doors, but this shows the stylistic direction followed by the aesthetic specialists at the Hyundai Motor Europe Design Center.

Regarding the inside of Hyundai i20, we expect to see a longer wheelbase than the present version thus improving overall space. Also, a redesigned dashboard with steering wheel has been included. Meanwhile the upholstery will get new fabrics and colors. Overall, a significant improvement in the overall finish inside the cabin is expected, as well as the inclusion of a long list of other features.

The production version of the new Hyundai i20 will debut in October at the Motor Show in Paris.
According to preliminary information, the range of engines will be taken from the current generation, for reasons of cost.

Regarding the engine range, it is possible that the new Hyundai i20 will receive a 1.0 liter three cylinder engine and the four cylinder one, displacing 1.25 liters. For diesel fans, they have prepared an engine displacing 1.1 liters with three cylinders and a 1.4-liter unit with four cylinders.

Interestingly, the Hyundai performance division "N" will develop a sports version of the i20, expected to be presented during the next year. This version will also benefit from the experience of the WRC team from Hyundai, who returned to the championship with the i20, and whose specifications are heavily inspired by the new generation of the model.
