|   Sunday, August 18, 2013
Gordon Murray, the man who created the McLaren F1 supercar, has managed to find a producer for his revolutionary city models: T25 and T27. Series production will start in 2016.

Murray confirmed the news on his official blog. "The T25 and T27 concept has now been sold to a customer and with a following wind a lot more drivers should be able to enjoy the centre drive experience in 2016," he said.

After more than three years, Gordon Murray, the man who was behind the legendary McLaren F1 supercar and has for a long time flirted with the complex engineering of Formula 1, announced the developing of two city cars called the T25 and T27.
The vehicles are meant to be revolutionary, through efficiency and the way they manage the interior.

Murray did all he could to complete their development and promoted them, and today brings good news for all those waiting for a favorable ending. The McLaren F1 father argues that he has found funding for production. Therefore, the new T25 and T27 will actually arrive on the streets.
Murray did not want to provide information about the buyer of the commercialization rights for the new city models, but he said that mass production will start in 2016, the year when the first units will be delivered to customers.

The Murray T25 measures 240 cm long and 130 cm wide. The model is equipped with a 660 cc engine, which develops 51 hp and 56 Nm out of its three cylinders. The unit is coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Murray T25 weighs 575 kg and has a height of only 140 cm. This model has two seats and one door, opening vertically and is produced in an innovative way.

The boot offers 160 liters under the rear seat is raised, respectively 720 liters with the rear seat folded. The maximum speed of this type is electronically limited to 150 km / h and the acceleration of 0-100 km / h is achieved in 16.2 seconds. CO2 emissions are 86 grams per kilometer, while fuel consumption is announced at 3.17 liters per 100 km.
Unlike his brother, the Murray T27 is an electric model. The British car designer has a chassis designed in collaboration with Zytek Automotive. T27 has an electric engine that can develop 33 horsepower and is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack.

The little city model can accelerate from 0 to 100 Km / h in about 15 seconds and the maximum speed it can reach is 106 km / h. In a combined CO2 cycle, the emissions of T27 are up to 48 g / km. This figure includes emissions from charging stations that supply electricity to the whole assembly.
In the urban mode, the CO2 emissions are 28 g / km. According to details provided by Gordon Murray, the T27 will have autonomy between 129 and 161 kilometers.

Concerning his innovative iStream manufacturing process he said that "The next challenge in the iStream story is to develop one or more of our current programmes into a mass-produced vehicle so that as many folks as possible can enjoy the benefits of low cost, low weight and very high levels of safety that iStream provides - truly Formula One technology for the everyday motorist."
