Mitsubishi ASX Facelift Revealed in US, Might Arrive In Europe
|   Tuesday, December 01, 2015
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the ASX's American brother, received a facelift at the Auto Show in Los Angeles. The ASX's American version is almost identical to that sold in Europe, the differences between the two versions being at the level of motorization range and orange lighting elements, specific to the models sold in the US.
The stylistic changes imposed on the ASX American variant could arrive in the not too distant future on the European ASX too.
In addition to stylistic changes the ASX received novelties regarding the interior space too.

The redesigned version of the American ASX enjoys a new front side "Dynamic Shield" that will be present on all future models of the manufacturer. In addition to the new grille the model enjoys a set of new caps for the exterior mirrors and new patterns of alloy wheels.

Inside, the Japanese model has a new steering wheel, new materials for the seats and a new climate control system. Those at Mitsubishi have equipped the ASX with a multimedia screen audio system with 6.1-inch diagonal, besides a central mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function. Also on the inside we have "piano black" inserts on the steering wheel and a modified center console (basic versions receives carbon fiber insert imitations).

The Japanese Crossover passed through its second facelift, more consistent compared to the previous one, launched in Los Angeles under the name Outlander Sport facelift, the name under which it is known on the North American market.

The new crossover received aesthetic changes only at the front side, which were carried out in the style of the new Ourtlander facelift. As mentioned, the "Dynamic Shield" became more aggressive, being equipped with a restyled grille, boomerang-shaped chrome elements, modified bumper and retouched headlights.

On the lateral side we find the new 18-inch rims and black plastic elements on the wings, which give the look of an SUV. The back was not changed - just some elements near the middle of the rear bumper have been removed.

While on the North American version, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport facelift is available with 2.0 liter (148 hp and torque of 196 Nm) and 2.4 liter (168 hp and torque of 226 Nm) motorizations, in Europe the Mitsubishi ASX facelift will come probably with the same engines present on the current model, which are a petrol unit displacing 1.6 liters (117 hp and 154 Nm torque) mated to a manual transmission, and a 1.8-liter (140 hp and 177 Nm of torque) unit coupled to a CVT variator.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will have a wide array of standard equipment, like power windows, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, soft-touch instrument panel trim, as well as 60/40 split folding plus reclining high-back rear seats with cup holders and armrest.

Safety wise, all models get standard seven airbags, Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL) plus hill start assist. The model will also come with a tire pressure monitoring system at no extra cost on top of an engine immobilizer anti-theft security alarm system.
