Mini ready to Showcase the 2013 John Cooper Works at Geneva
|   Thursday, March 07, 2013
The latest model of the Mini John Cooper Works has been designed in a unique manner while featuring a price tag that is beyond the scope of many. The price tag for the base model of the John Cooper Works is £29,535 while the exterior has been designed in a monstrous manner. The vehicle features all wheel drive with a clever electric clutch that is supposed to give this vehicle more on road dexterity than its rivals.

The vehicle is quite quick and responsive but the exterior styling proves to be a major deterrent to people trying to buy the car.
The vehicle is powered by a 1.6 liter turbo charged petrol engine displacing 215 BHP. This engine is also used to power the Mini Countryman and the JCW Hatchback apart from the John Cooper Works.

Mini claims that the John Cooper Works returns an average fuel efficiency of 40 MPG and is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH in less than 6.9 seconds while featuring a top speed of 140 MPH. The real advantage of the new generation vehicles from Mini is that, they feature all wheel drive systems. This allows the vehicles to travel up any terrain as the engines are quite powerful.

The electronic clutch is quite responsive and efficiently transfers power to all the wheels of the vehicle. The new John Cooper Works look gigantic while the only connection between the vehicle and Mini is the badge displayed on the exterior and the interior. A center sports console enhances the interior of the vehicle while matches sporty seats and upholstery light up the cabin. The exhaust note is quite deep and this enhances the overall feel of driving the vehicle.

Once the throttle is floored, there is no stopping this vehicle. It feels genuinely fast and loud and despite an over boosted torque, the vehicle still feels like it could use some more power. The linear power production and delivery is also quite essential for this vehicle and the Mini John Cooper Works reminds many of the Paceman.

The sculpted seats on this vehicle are also a potent attraction and Mini plans to leave no stones unturned when it comes to designing the John Cooper Works. In fact the exterior is the only thing that looks unconventional of this vehicle. However, for the optimists, this could be the foundation of a new design for the next generation vehicles from Mini. The interior is however quite pretty and decently designed.

If the price is not a deterrent and the exterior does not bother you, the Mini John Cooper Works could be the perfect urban ride considering the current market condition. The vehicle is small, maneuverable, fuel efficient and quite peppy around the block. However, once you visit the highway, the peppiness seems to fizzle. The lack of power is evident and if you are a performance enthusiast, you will be disappointed in this vehicle. However, the vehicle is decent for its range but the pricing in unrealistic.
