Mini Adds Extra-Power To Its Countryman With John Cooper Works
|   Monday, January 23, 2017
To the Mini fans' delight, the famous group is now adding some extra-power to its largest vehicle so far: the Countryman. The next-gen vehicle is now the latest model that will benefit from the well-known performance treatment designed by John Cooper Works.

As it's been recently revealed, the 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 will have 228hp and 258 pounds-feet of torque. According to the producers, the new model will be able to reach 60 mph in 6.
seconds. By comparison, this is 0.8 seconds faster than the former Mini Cooper S Countryman ALL4.

The power of the vehicle can be controlled either by using the standard 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic transmission. A significant advantage in this case is that, as the company claims, both the manual and the automatic transmissions can reach 60 mph in 6.2 seconds all the way to 145 mph, which is the top speed of the vehicle.

The pricing of the vehicle has not been announced yet. However, the good news is that the new model is expected to be put out on the US market in April this year. Also, the model comes in the versions of the Clubman, the hardtop two-door and the Cooper convertible.

The latest version of the Countryman was unveiled for the first time in October last year. So far, it beats the record as the largest vehicle ever created by the company. Mini has put a lot of pressure on the model by hoping that it will increase the sales number in the U.S.. Unfortunately, the sales of 2016 dropped 11% in US alone, which means 52,030. This is the worst sales number of the Mini since 2010, but luckily the John Cooper Works Countryman will make a difference for the next two years.

The new Countryman is riding on a front-wheel-drive platform. Although this is a new feature for the Mini vehicles, it's the same as the BMW models, which may be an advantage for those who fancy the option. Also, this version is 8 inches longer than the previous models, which adds more space on the inside.

More and more often seen as a compact crossover, the 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 is about to take on the premium BMW X1. Furthermore, June will come with a brand new plug-in hybrid option of the Countryman as well.
