Mercedes To Revive Maybach Tag For An S-Class Deluxe Version This Fall
|   Friday, April 25, 2014
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach will be the name of the most luxurious versions of the German flagship. It will increase in size and will be equipped with material worthy of Bentley and Roll-Royce.
Although the history of the brand Maybach was put cut short due to poor financial development (only 200 units sold in 2011), Mercedes intends to keep the name for the next top version of the current S-Class, able to compete with similar products from Bentley's or Rolls Royce's yard.

The future-branded Mercedes-Benz Maybach is expected to be available with an optional window, electrically actuated, separating the front seats from the rear, folding rear seats, tables stored in the center arm rest fold, and a number of other business-oriented features.

The Maybach version of the current S-Class will have a high degree of customization: will feature exclusive skins, unique body shades and precious wood. Every effort is made to attract wealthy clients from the United States, China and Middle East. And because it targets precisely these markets, the S-Class Maybach will be revealed simultaneously in two major showrooms: one in Los Angeles and one in Guangzhou from China.

From mid-2012, the number of millionaires worldwide rose by nearly 2 million people. Most of them are in the United States and Asia, according to Global Wealth Report, Credit Suisse bank. There are 98,700 people with assets worth more than 50 million dollars each. By 2018, global wealth will jump more than 40 percent to reach 334 billion dollars, according to the Swiss bank study.

According to sources cited by Reuters, the model will cost double from the current Mercedes S600, presented in the spring at Geneva, and labeled at 165,000 euros (228,000 dollars) in Germany. The future Maybach Mercedes S-Class will have a wheelbase 200 mm (7.8 inches) longer than the standard versions to guarantee a generous space for rear-seat passengers. 330,000 euros would be the estimated cost for the Maybach Mercedes S-Class.

The model will become the longest Mercedes limousine on the market before the apparition of a Pullman version. The latter will convert the current S-Class in a model about a meter (39.4 inches) longer, because this is the amount by which the wheelbase will increase. Under these conditions, the rear seats will be installed as four opposite chairs. The price will be directly proportional to the size and luxury: approximately one million euros.

The Pullman will be a successor to the 1963 Mercedes-Benz Pullman 600, a state limousine with a length of over 6 meters (236.2 inches) that reached 200 km / h (124 mph). It was popular with dictators worldwide, being called the "dictator ship".

The Pullman model had a complex hydraulic suspension, which allowed it to achieve high speeds on roads of poor quality. Some dictator owners of Pullman models, over the time, were Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, Shah Reza Pahlavi from Iran, Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, and Josip Broz Tito in Yugoslavia.

Mercedes wanted to prove to rivals at that time from Rolls-Royce and Cadillac it could make a car that was comfortable, even at high speeds. This achievement was difficult because the armored plated car weighted over 3.4 tones.
