Mercedes to hike price of their few models in upcoming years
|   Saturday, May 26, 2012
Following the German car manufacturer Audi and BMW, Mercedes also decided to hike the price of some of their models. Giving information to public, CEO announced that the hike will come into effect soon after the end of this business year.

The company announced that they can hike the price any time after the current business year will end. They have also given indication that the official date for the hike of the price has not been decided. The company also makes some indirect statements that this hike may even postpone to the year 2014.

Mercedes CEO has also announced recently, that the hike will not be applicable for the people who booked their cars before the end of current business year, and those also to whom the company will not be able to provide the car within the time given by them while booking.

According to some of the news recently shown on American and German news channel, the Mercedes only hike the models that are on Diesel and not actually those who are on petrol. This is mainly because of the reason that price of petrol in some Asian countries like India is increasing. So for this reason the petrol models are already facing less sales issue. Hiking the petrol models price means further decreasing their sales. This is one of the major reasons that only diesel models will have hike in their prices and not actually the petrol models.

When asked about the names of the models whose price has been decided to be revised, the CEO told that "Final decision regarding this has not been taken. We have names of models but we don't have names all the models. We will soon make this information available for the general public.

The reason to hike the price of the some of the models has not yet publically announced by the company, but according to the news in media it is because of increase in the amount of sales tax in several countries. Some of the experts also said that this hike has been considered by the company just because the competitors of Mercedes have adopted the same path recently.

People are highly expecting that this hike by the company can affect their overall sales globally. On the other hand company has officially announced that the hike is normal. According to General Manager of Mercedes the price has been hike in price has been decided after a long period of time. Also this hike is not applicable to all, but only few models of their cars. The GM has announced that the company is sure that the hike will not affect their sales because the price has not been increased up to a higher extent.
GM also told media that hike in the price is applicable globally and not only in some specific countries only. He said "We are soon going to have meeting in this matter with our higher authorities and their decision will be final in this matter".
