Mercedes C63 AMG Cabrio - AMG's Sixth Model In Just One Month
|   Tuesday, April 12, 2016
Mercedes-Benz has lately surpassed expectations by releasing one after another a series of vehicles that impress with their appearance, and especially with their performances, and when we talk of super performance we think immediately of the Affalterbach performance division that seems they can no longer stop produced speed demons with hundreds of horsepower.

After the release a few weeks ago of the C43 AMG Cabrio in Geneva, now's the turn of the C63 AMG Cabrio, the most powerful model in the range.
This was launched at the International Auto Show in New York.

In terms of the external appearance, as was expected, the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabrio takes most elements from the coupe version, which is already known to adopt a sporty and attractive look. The roof is made of a lightweight material which can be folded quickly, and is raised or lowered in 20 seconds, at speeds up to 50 km / h.

The long awaited Mercedes C63 AMG Cabrio is available in two power versions. Both use the same V8 engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters. The standard version delivers 476 horsepower and a torque of 650 Nm, available in an extremely generous rev range, between 1750 rpm and 4500 rpm. With a total weight of 1910 kilograms, the convertible can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.2 seconds.

The stronger version, the C63 AMG S Cabrio will have a total output of 510 horsepower and a torque of 700 Nm, available in the same rev range. Even if the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h acceleration performance is slightly better, requiring 4.1 seconds to reach 100 km / h. By opting for lifting the electronic limiter, the C63 AMG S Cabrio can reach up to 300 km / h.
Exclusively for more dynamic version the C63 S Cabriolet is installed with a limited slip differential that provides stability and better control over the car. Being a relatively compact model, the C 63 S Cabriolet weighs in 1.925 kilograms.

For better stability it has received a rear axle gauge increased by 50 mm compared to the C 63 sedan and station wagon, thanks to the reviewed multi-link rear suspension. For this purpose, the bearings were taken apart by 25 mm on both sides. Compared with the ordinary C-Class Cabriolet, the Mercedes-AMG versions are spicy through an expressive aerodynamic kit combined with flared fenders, which enhance the car's width by 64 mm at the front and 66 mm at the rear. The hood is made of aluminum and is also extended by 60 mm.

Both versions send resources to the 4MATIC traction through an automatic transmission with seven reports. The difference between the two versions is given by 19 or 20 inches wheels and the presence of a mechanical differential on the C63 AMG and an electronic one on the C63 S. Also, the C63 S Convertible benefits from a Race mode for the transmission, while the standard version has only Comfort, Sport and Sport + options.

The new Mercedes C63 AMG Cabriolet will be available in Europe starting this summer, specifically from July.
