Mercedes C Class Coupe: Official Images And Details With Stuttgart Family's Newest Member
|   Tuesday, September 08, 2015
It's beautiful! What else can you say when you watch the first official photos of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe? Except that, at this level, the appearance is only a small part of the problem, the performances are truly most important.

Also, with the sharp breath of rivals like BMW Coupe Series 4 or veteran Audi A5 on the back of their neck, it is appropriate that those from Mercedes-Benz have done their homework thoroughly.

The official debut of the new model will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show, followed by the appearance in Mercedes-Benz showrooms in December this year.

The C Class coupe will be the third model in the C family, after the sedan and T-Model. Built on the same MRA platform the coupe will take the full suspension system from its sedan brother - including multilink system with five attachment points for the rear axle.

As standard equipment, the model will be offered with a classical mechanics suspension, but optionally two adaptive suspension systems (each 15 mm lower than the sedan) will be available: Agility Control will offer a mix of comfort and a sporty character, and sport suspension which includes Sports Direct-Steer that will provide extra agility when driving is preferred at a faster pace. As a unique feature in this class, all optional, the Airmatic suspension will be offered.

Dynamic Select lets the driver choose the operation mode, which allows him to choose between five settings: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport + or individually. This system changes the response of parameters for engine, transmission, steering system or Airmatic suspension (if it's available).

As far as engines go, only with four-cylinder units are available in the first instance; six options, four petrol and two diesel, all turbocharged and with direct fuel injection.

The petrol engine range is based on the C 180 version (1.6 liters / 156 hp), followed by three engines, with engine displacements of 2 liters - C 200 (184 hp), C 250 (211 hp) and C 300 (245 hp).
The diesel units have a displacement of 2.2 liters and offer 170 hp (C 220 d) and 204 hp (C 250 AD), packed with environmentally friendly SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

Compared to the old generation Class C Coupe Class, the new model is 95 mm longer and 40 mm wider (60 extra mm are allotted, for example, between the firewall and the front axle, which allows mounting the engine somewhat backwards, favoring the weight distribution between the axles). The wheelbase is in turn 80 mm higher. The aerodynamic coefficient (Cx) is 0.26, the best in its class.

Inside no radical changes were made regarding the dashboard, which is quasi-identical to the sedan and T-Model. The changes to the door panels and selection of materials used were made in order to emanate sportiness, as befits a coupe.

Front sports seats now have an automated delivery passenger seat belt and the air conditioning has, like on the sedan, the function to work with the navigation system, and at times when crossing tunnels, the ventilation system passes cabin air recirculation automatically and will return to outside air supply, once it left the tunnel.
