Mercedes Benz Reveals a Promising SLS AMG Black Edition
|   Monday, August 05, 2013
The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Edition is known to be one of the most aggressive beasts on road. Ironically, the vehicle is quite simple on the interior and easy to drive considering its wild and free attitude. The SLS AMG Black Edition was recently taken on a spin around the track and this vehicle proved once again what AMG is really capable of.

Coupled with the Black Edition tag, this SLS is one mean performer. Although this vehicle lacks any official number on its side, it has the capability to outdo most track centric sports cars in their own game.
The SLS AMG Black Edition is nothing like the Mercedes Benz SLS GT and even the exterior has been modified to lend a sleeker, aerodynamic look to the car. The front and rear bumper on the vehicle have been installed to enhance the aerodynamics of the car while the general carbon fiber splitter and body panes make it extremely light weight.

The front wings are larger by 13 mm while the carbon fiber bonnet has special air inlet ducts which aids in keeping the engine cool. The rear brake cooling ducts are equally important while the rear bumpers house the substantial diffuser. Mercedes Benz is also offering an aerodynamic package on the SLS AMG Black Edition.

The overall weight of the SLS AMG Black Edition is 70 kg less than the standard SLS GT. This has been attributed mainly to the use of light weight components on the car. The increased stiffness also helps maintain general ergonomics on the car. The 6.2 liter V8 engine powering this beast is the real attraction.

The engine is highly responsive and despite the high displacement figures, it is pretty confident near the low end. In fact the low end torque generated by this engine is one of the best in class, which means that the SLS AMG Black Edition is just as efficient and easy to drive within the city as it is on freeways. The SLS AMG outperforms the Porsche 911 GT2 RS in a straight line as well as around corners and the engine feels confident near the 8000 RPM mark.

The best part about the car is the deep exhaust note which gives a serious drive feel. The interior is well stocked and refined and is free from most external vibrations or noise. The gull wing door is a trademark on the SLS AMG while the use of high quality black leather gives the vehicle a complete look. The general trim level suits the price tag and a slew of technological and infotainment measures have been installed on the car to give it an enhanced appeal in the market.

The steering column is multi functional and this adjusts well to the car. Handling has been enhanced quite a bit while racing harness is an important addition on the car. The V8 has the sense of urgency missing in most vehicles and people with deep pockets will sure love what they see.
