Mercedes Benz Reveal C Class Super Sport
|   Saturday, October 26, 2013
Mercedes Benz has confirmed plans to launch a cabriolet and super coupe version of its latest C Class vehicles. Also up for launch is the new C Class lift back which Mercedes Benz claims will resurrect the old Sports coupe tag. However, unlike its previous sports coupe, this vehicle will feature a five door layout against the previous three door lineup. This vehicle is similar to Audi's A5 Sport back and BMW's 3 Series GT.

Even though details are hard to come by, we have been informed that this vehicle will feature similar dimensions as its Chinese counterpart.
Hence, it should be high on leg and head room. Mercedes Benz plans on using similar models for all variants across global markets although the models set for European markets have been modified quite a bit. Under development at the moment is a C Class cabriolet, details of which are yet to be revealed or leaked.

However, this vehicle looks like a BMW 3 Series rival and is likely to sport a fabric hood. Powering this vehicle is a 4.0 liter turbo charged V8 petrol engine which takes it to a whole new level, rivaling Porsche's 911 and Mercedes Benz's C 190. After designing its latest frugal range of engines, powering the S300 Bluetec Hybrid and E300, Mercedes Benz is confident of similar results from its latest C Class vehicles.

This is great news considering performance ability of these vehicles, keeping in mind the rise in fuel prices. Hence, a frugal 2.0 liter petrol hybrid engine is expected on this vehicle while a turbo diesel four cylindered engine is also on the cards. Mercedes Benz claims an average fuel efficiency of 70 MPG although this figure is yet to be officially scrutinized.

Mercedes Benz is fascinated by a new breed of engines and we are awaiting latest news and developments patiently. Latest zero emission norms have been in place and the German car maker wants to design vehicles to abide by its guidelines. This is far from being easy and hence Mercedes Benz deserves special credit for turning it into reality.

Mercedes Benz is working on its 7G transmission, which is also expected to be present on the latest C Class lift back. Without a test mule available for drive, we could not be sure of handling and other details regarding interior, although we expect premium quality considering current market scenario and brand value. This is a decent proposition for any car maker willing to do well in mass markets and Mercedes Benz for one sure wouldn't want to risk brand value by launching below par products.

We expect this vehicle to be showcased at Detroit fall January although its first batch should not make it before 2015. We are however willing to wait for this period, if Mercedes Benz brings in all that they promise. Latest rear wheel drive trains are on offer and this should enhance performance while giving the vehicle an additional sense of safety and well being on road.
