Mercedes Benz Releases Teaser Images of the Sixth Generation C Class Vehicles
|   Tuesday, December 17, 2013
Mercedes Benz has officially unveiled images of its next generation C Class vehicles, ahead of its official launch at the Detroit Motor Show fall January 2014. Even though production ready versions of this vehicle and test mules have been spotted on a number of occasions, this is the first time Mercedes Benz has officially leaked teaser images of the vehicle. The latest images show the vehicle without camouflaging.

This is great improvement once you get to understand what the company has in mind.
Leaked images also show a Limited Edition AMG body frame on this vehicle which will be making its official debut along with the vehicle fall January. The fifth generation model will bid a quick farewell soon after while its sixth generation cousin makes a formal entry into the segment. Key changes include a lift back body shape along with a five door body layout. It is also based on a rear wheel drive train while sharing various components with its high end E and S Class relatives.

These vehicles are designed on an all new architecture known as the MRA platform and this is expected to be used underneath the E and S Class vehicles as well. These vehicles however are not expected to officially join the fray before 2016 although we are all desperately waiting for a new vehicle soon. Second generation GLK will also be getting the MRA platform while right hand drive models will be available first.

Sales are expected to start by end 2015 while these vehicles will also feature a trademark stretched platform. This as a result gives this vehicle a larger cabin with advanced luggage storage capacity along with greater body balance and hence ensures better handling. Even though this vehicle is larger than its predecessor, it is light weight owing to lighter components having been used to design its chassis and external body frame.

It is 80 kg lighter than the current model of any C Class vehicle, without any of its accessories attached. Exterior design wise, this vehicle draws heavy design cues from the current generation C Class vehicles while a new trailer like design parameter on its rear end has been inspired by the current generation E Class vehicle.
This vehicle will sport the largest in class infotainment device and a touch screen built into it although we are not quite sure of its special features, if any, although quite a few are expected owing to its late launch date. Mercedes Benz has quite cohesive looking vehicles although insiders claim that a few major changes have been made on its interior.

A vast array of drive assistance measures has been installed on this vehicle and we are quite sure they will be classy as well as efficient. The latest C Class engine lineup includes carry over six and four cylindered engine options while mid weight bias helps maintain body balance. More affordable engines will be within its 1.6 and 2.0 liter segments although larger sales are expected soon after launch.
