|   Monday, October 29, 2012
Mercedes Benz has finally given a much needed face lift to the Mercedes Benz E Class as the vehicle was almost in the stage of a mid life crisis. This revision is a comprehensive decision taken by Mercedes Benz and this has been done to enhance the showroom appeal of the vehicle.

The E Class will be showcased at the Detroit Motor Show fall January 2013 and the Mercedes Benz E Class has been redesigned to stave off tough competition from the market.
The primary focus on the redesign can be pointed to the fact that the four headlights have been done away with in favor of two headlights. A new front bumper along with side skirts, wings and LED daytime running lights have been installed and this enhances the overall look and feel of the vehicle.

However, the new E Class retains the basic chassis design and fascia of its predecessor. The vehicle high quality parts as well as an increased number of seats, new switch gear, instrument cluster and an enhanced entertainment package has been installed. The vehicle is powered by a turbo charged four cylindered petrol engine. New models are expected to be introduced to the lineup quite soon and Mercedes Benz is currently working on the revamped E Class.

The new M274 engine is a modified version of the M270 and this has been placed transversely in the Mercedes Benz A Class. The engine and drive train have been modified for a transversal rear wheel drive system and the engine options include a 1.6 liter turbo charged E 180 diesel unit, a 2.0 liter super charged diesel unit and a 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 engine.

Power output is equivalent to 180 BHP, 208 BHP, 248 BHP for the E 200, E 250 and the E 350 engines respectively and 335 BHP for the all new E 400 V6. The new E 350 displaces 35 BHP more than its predecessor and an optional 4.7 liter V8 can also be opted for while purchasing the E Class. This is set to be the range topped of the E Class and this vehicle will sport the AMG 63 based engine.

Hybrid options on the vehicle are under consideration and the final plans to launch a hybrid has not been announced as of yet. The possibilities are being probed and a decision is set to be taken quite soon. If conceived, the E 300 will be available with the hybrid set up and a nine speed automatic transmission system could be mated to the engine to optimize performance. As for now, a petrol variant of the E 400 is set to be formed however this will not be available in the United Kingdom.

Mercedes Benz has utilized the magic ride chassis formation on the E Class for the first time and the differences are expected to be felt. The vehicles uses an advanced camera to gauge the road up ahead and adjust the transmission and throttle settings respectively to optimize performance and comfort.
