Mercedes Benz Launches the S500L in the UK
|   Tuesday, July 23, 2013
The all new Mercedes Benz S Class is a great addition to the collection of vehicles at Stuttgart. The S500 was recently unveiled and the vehicle draws power from a 4.7 liter twin turbo charged V8 engine mated to an eight speed automatic transmission system. The engine feels confident near the 2000 RPM mark and is best suited to cruising. The level of refinement of the engine is highly remarkable and even at the 100 MPH mark, the car feels comfortable cruising.

Ride comfort is high and handling is also quite remarkable. This is the sixth generation S Class vehicle from Mercedes Benz and this has been the flagship production even since the car was unveiled back in May 2013. The S500 is directly rivaling the BMW 7 Series, Audi R8, Lexus LS and the Jaguar XJ and has also brought new life into this segment.

Mercedes Benz has worked hard in formulating and designing the S Class and engineers claim that the S500 was designed to take on the Bentley Mulsanne and the Rolls Royce Ghost head on. Mercedes Benz plans on unveiling a coupe and a cabriolet within the next few years and these are the most anticipated models in the S Class at the moment.

Mercedes Benz enhanced the way the S Class looked from the outside and the new design is fairly appealing. The outgoing model does not resemble the new vehicle and the ride height has also been adjusted. The aerodynamic properties of the S Class are class leading and controls the car even at high speeds. The underbody panel enhances down force and keeps the car grounded at all times.

The re engineered S Class is one of the most advanced vehicles in the world at the moment and is also one of the costliest on road. The S500 weighs approximately 1940 kg, which is 5 kg more than its predecessor. Torsion rigidity has been improved while vibrations have been kept down. Ride quality is better than the current generation vehicles and Mercedes Benz is looking forward to launching a hybrid power train operated S400 and S300.

The current drive train displaces 273 BHP and considering the overall weight of the vehicle, the car sports a decent power to weight ratio. A 3.5 liter petrol V6 engine is also available and this returns fuel efficiency of 44.8 MPG. The new range of vehicles will be available fall autumn 2013.

Mercedes Benz is offering a wide range of engines on the S Class and a certain section has been designed exclusively for the European market.
The American and Chinese range of engines is more powerful and less fuel efficient. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur pose a decent challenge that the Mercedes Benz S500 has to face and this is the first vehicle which will remind people of the Maybach range. A range of electronic safety, infotainment and drive assistance measures have been installed in the vehicle and luxury is clearly the prime objective of people looking to buy the S500.
