Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Went Into Production At Hungary Plant
|   Tuesday, January 27, 2015
Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake went into production at the plant in Hungary. That plant is located in Kecskemet and received an investment of one billion euro in the recent years. The manufacturer is committed to increasing investment in this factory in the future.

Last year the Mercedes-Benz plant from Hungary produced 150,000 units. But the investment is expected to bring an increased production quota. The Mercedes-Benz officials did not specify what the value of investments will be and what production quota will be made as a result of these investments.
In any case, the investments will be made together with expanding the range of models built on the MFA platform. In 2014, they had a cumulated volume of 463 152 units, 25 percent higher than in 2013.

"The entire team of the plant is especially proud for the opportunity to produce the CLA and now the CLA Shooting Brake exclusively for customers around the world. We are aware of the responsibility that comes with it and will build on our achievements to date with consistent top performance," stated plant manager Thomas Geier.
The CLA Shooting Brake is very similar with version of CLS Shooting Brake, its older brother. As in the case of CLS, the CLA Shooting Brake version does not necessarily focus on cargo volume, but on the external appearance of the model.

In comparison with the sedan version, the CLA Shooting Brake has a higher cargo volume, but only 25 liters more, totaling 495 liters in when the bench seat is raised, respectively 1,354 l with the folded bench seats. Because the back seat has a more upright position, the volume can go up to 595 liters without losing the three rear seats. The model compensates for with the fact that it has the widest loading area of the segment, measuring 1,328 mm.

At the time of launch, the CLA Shooting Brake model will be offered with two diesel engines, and four engines fueled by gasoline. In the fall of 2015 two additional diesel engines will be introduced. In addition, there will be an AMG version of the Shooting Brake CLA model, which will be equipped with the same 2.0-liter turbo engine, rated at 360 hp, which animates the other "45 AMG" versions of the Mercedes Benz range.

Like the sedan version of the CLA, the model will come with both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Also, the automatic and manual transmissions will be present. All engines have as standard equipment the Start - Stop system and are optimized for as low as possible fuel consumption, and minimized CO2 emissions.

In 2014, sales of the brand's compact family car went up 24.7 percent, to 463,152 units including A-Class, B-Class, CLA-Class and GLA-Class vehicles.
For a single year, that is an absolute record for Mercedes-Benz deliveries. The CLA has been highly successful in its most important market where sales doubled to 27,000 vehicles in 2014; Americans seem to love the model.
