Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Scheduled For Debut On January 15, 2015
|   Sunday, August 31, 2014
After more than a month since the official confirmation of the second CLA version of, a blog specializing in the Stuttgart brand announces the release date of the CLA Shooting Brake.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake will be launched on January 15, 2015, according to Mercedes-Benz Passion, citing sources within the brand. The onset date involves a release at the Auto Show in Detroit, conducted in the first half of the year. The first deliveries will take place in spring next year, says the source of Mercedes-Benz Passion.
This information coincides with the initial announcement of the Germans which included a launch in early 2015.

The news brought by the source cited by the blog specializing in the German brand includes launching an AMG version of the Shooting Brake that is equipped with the same 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine rated at 360 hp.

Compared to the standard CLA version, the variant called Shooting Brake will have a sloping roof, prolonged rear doors, and a bigger boot. The CLA Shooting Brake's trunk volume will exceed 500 liters, sources quoted by Mercedes-Benz Passion blog estimated.

The respective portal announces several engine versions for it, including three diesels and three otto versions, besides the performance model, all taken from other versions. Besides that performance version, which will be equipped with 4Matic all-wheel drive system, several engines will be offered along with 4Matic system.

The CLS Shooting Brake and CLA Shooting Brake models are a clear evolution of the Fascination concept, presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2008. While the version based on the CLS has a price between E-Class and S-Class, the new CLA Shooting Brake could be placed between that of the four door coupe and of a C-Class entry-level. The new version will bring a new niche in the premium segment, introducing the term Shooting Brake in the compact class and launching an interesting challenge to competitors in the segment.

Practicality isn't the first reason for which people will go inside a Mercedes-Benz showroom with the CLA Shooting Brake on their mind, of course. Some will even turn to the obvious car slang and call this the baby CLS Shooting Break.

The CLA Shooting Brake will use Mercedes-Benz's MFA platform, just like the compact A-Class and B-Class and CLA sedan or GLA crossover. It will also inherit the engine line-up of the models above. This means that you will also get an AMG version that will blend elegant style with 355 hp.

The different options available for the car, as revealed by the source, are a1.6-liter petrol engine with an output of 122 hp or 156 hp, a 2.0-liter petrol engine rated at 211 hp, 1.5-liter diesel engine delivering 109 hp, 1.8-liter diesel engine developing 136 hp and a 2.1-liter diesel engine giving off170 hp.

As far as the performance variant goes, the Mercedes CLA 45 Shooting Brake model might have the same specs as the Mercedes A 45 AMG and Mercedes CLA 45 AMG, which will be launched at the 2015 NAIAS. Each car equips the new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine able to produce 360 hp.
