Mercedes Benz Brings in AMG Modifications to the SL Series
|   Tuesday, May 07, 2013
Mercedes Benz has launched a face lifted version of the SL Roadster. The vehicle features major technical changes along with minor cosmetic upgrades and the first batch of vehicles to feature the changes will be out in the market fall June. Despite Mercedes Benz claiming that the additional parts of the AMG costs £6625, the prices of the SL 350 and the SL 500 have been steadily reducing.

The SL 350 Sport AMG is priced at £69,960 while it was priced at £72,520 in the past.
The SL 500 Sport AMG on the other hand currently costs £79,970 while it was priced at £83,470. The SL 65 AMG however is priced at £110,785. The drift in the segment heavily affects the SL 500 and the SL 65 AMG versions and both models will be sold as the AMG Sports from June.

The AMG Sports package bears modifications to both the interior and exterior of the vehicle and the modifications include an advanced Pakrtronic System with additional Active Park Assist along with an automated Panoramic Sun roof. The AMG Sports exterior package consists of five spoke alloy sports rims measuring 19 inches while the ride height has been decreased by 10 mm. The suspension and damper settings have also been enhanced for better control.

The exterior kit also packs in a subtle change to the body kit along with Mercedes Benz tagged brake calipers. New interior changes also include the use of perforated leather as the general upholstery, AMG stitched floor mats along with Platinum White Pearl stitching along with a new steering wheel design. The range of exterior paint schemes for the vehicle has also been enhanced.

Polar White is the new official paint scheme on the vehicle along with a new edition of Hyacinth Red and both cost an additional £690. Nappa Leather finish in Porcelain or Bengal Red is priced at £710 while an upgrade to a complete Black Ash Wood interior from Brushed Aluminum is priced at £345. The vehicles however do not feature any mechanical modifications and everything under the hood has been left untouched.

Both vehicles still feature the six speed automatic transmission system with an optional seven speed transmission system on the cards. The SL 65 AMG Sports is at the top of the line and does not feature any modifications whatsoever to the vehicle in any form. The SL 63 AMG Sports is next in line and will be available in the new trim levels. Mercedes Benz is confident with their new design and modifications and hope to reach the target sales by the end of the next financial year.

The Mercedes Benz SL 63 AMG and the SL 65 AMG are the best looking vehicles in the SL Series and apart from the new paint schemes the vehicles will also be available in their old paint schemes. Black was the most popular color on the SL Series and Mercedes Benz hopes that the Polar White color will manage to attain similar amount of popularity.
