McLaren Working on an Android based Infotainment System on the 2014 MP4 12C
|   Wednesday, September 04, 2013
People who have been fortunate enough to drive the McLaren MP4 12C know that it is a driver friendly machine, capable of taking on almost any flat surface on the face of the earth. This however, is unusual as most supercars are speed oriented and not focused entirely on driver friendliness. This characteristic is what sets McLaren apart from the other supercar manufactures today.

This driver friendly nature is set to be further enhanced with the introduction of the all new driver infotainment system in the car.
If rumors are to be believed, McLaren plans on introducing an all new Android system into the car and considering the current market statistics, this should have a major effect on the demand of both the MP4 12C and the flagship P1. The new system has been showcased on the car at the recently concluded event at Pebble Beach.

McLaren has named this technology IRIS and has carefully and neatly placed it at the center of the central dash. The introduction of the all new Android technology ensures that the infotainment system will be top notch. Nothing but the best is expected from McLaren and the company strives to fulfill the demands and expectations of its clients.

Connectivity measures are at the highest point in the MP4 12C and apart from the standard Bluetooth and USB connectivity, McLaren has ensured that the 12C is well connected and the latest Android connectivity means that the vehicle will play host to the millions of apps in the Android database. This is an important addition to the already important and exclusive vehicle and other supercar makes should also incorporate the idea for the benefit of the customers.

The best feature about the IRIS is its complete browsing capability. This feature is currently available on the Tesla Model S and users have a gala time enjoying browsing on the move. This will be a standard attachment on every medium ranged vehicle in the world within the next few years. McLaren has worked on the layout and design itself and the operating system should be decent and simple to use.

The McLaren MP4 12C now has a completely finished feel now and this news has spread like wildfire since its reveal 24 hours ago. McLaren is not the first to experiment with the Android platform on a vehicle and it has been a year since various players have tried to incorporate the platform on their vehicles. However, this is the first time Android is being used on the commercial platform and built in a vehicle in a mass scale.

The IRIS platform has undergone some very serious upgrades to host the Android platform and an additional touch screen was the first addition. The list of apps includes the very famous Tuneln Radio and Google Maps. Both of them are highly interesting and important and hence the general feel of the vehicles have been enriched. Current McLaren MP4 12C users can also get their vehicles updated at the nearest dealerships today.
