McLaren to Unveil Upgraded 650S at the Good Wood Festival of Speed

The Good Wood Festival of Speed commences today, bringing along with it a huge collection of competition and vehicles, both new and old. In this relentless battle for supremacy, numerous competitors are vouching for new and upgraded vehicles every year. McLaren has promised to showcase their latest 650S, at this prestigious event this year. Designed on the same principles as their MSO 650S Coupe Concept, the 650S brings forth numerous additions to class.


Major exterior upgrades enhance aerodynamics, while carbon fiber panels and components reduce weight. Additional use of carbon fiber has made on its exterior, which has been carried on to its side blades, three piece bumper and tail section. The rear diffuser is more advanced and aggressive than it was before, lending a more aggressive edge to this car. McLaren plans on manufacturing just 50 units of this vehicle, with a majority to be sold in Europe. Hence, if you live in the States and want to get your hands on one of these stupendous pieces, you better nook now!

Engine upgrades are unlikely on this model, with power still arriving from a twin turbocharged 3.5 liter V8 engine block that is mated to an automated dual clutch seven speed transmission system. Performance, however should take a turn for positive, due to additional exterior upgrades and carbon fiber use.

While top speeds are yet to be confirmed, this vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.0 seconds. This vehicle will be seen live in action, taking part in the Hill Climb Challenge at Good Wood, later this week. It will be available in both Spyder and Coupe variants, which are to be unveiled by the end of 2014. We are waiting intently to get a rough idea of this vehicle's capabilities on track.

McLaren is known for launching track prepped street legal vehicles that are capable of sending many big boys squirming for mercy. Final announcements are yet to be made, although, insiders have hinted at base prices of £252,500 for the Coupe and £272,500 for the Spyder model. This is part of McLaren's promise to launch two new vehicles every year. They have stuck to their word ever since.

Some of the optional features on this vehicle includes lightweight 10 spoke alloyed rim, which insiders claim will reduce weight by a considerable margin. A specially designed leather upholstery, with Alcantara trim and carbon detailing has been confirmed so far, along with a unique nameplate announcing its brand. This vehicle has classiness and quirkiness oozing from every ounce of its body, like any other McLaren.

McLaren has quite a few interesting propositions lined up for the next few years and we are waiting patiently for these to make an official unveil. We could be looking at hybrid vehicles soon too, although, there are no official confirmations at this moment.
