McLaren Reveal Technical Details of the P1
|   Thursday, October 24, 2013
McLaren claims that their current flag ship – the P1 – will be able to accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH within 2.8 seconds. This is just one out of several astonishing figures revealed by McLaren about this vehicle. McLaren further claims that this vehicle can go from 0 – 125 MPH within 6 seconds. This makes the P1 one of the fastest accelerating vehicles of all time. McLaren claims a top speed of 217 MPH which makes it faster than the conventional Porsche 918 Spyder.

The P1 however faces stiff competition from the new LaFerrari, which can accelerate from 0 – 156 MPH within 15.5 seconds. Ferrari claims that it can accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.0 seconds and this should place it in a similar segment as this. Ferrari however refused to unveil its top speed, hence we are unsure of what it is capable of doing as of yet.

Very few vehicles today have the ability to accelerate through that distance in such short time and the only vehicles capable of such figures include Ariel Atom's V8, Koenigsegg Agera, Nissan GTR Spec V and the Bugatti Veyron. Most of these vehicles however are beyond the reach of common people. Hence it is safe to say that McLaren has a more affordable deal on the cards.

McLaren claims that the P1 returns close to 34.0 MPG along with emitting 194 g/km of CO2. These figures re refined compared to super car figures and this is solely due to its 3.8 liter V8 engine displacing 903 BHP along with 664 ft lb of torque. Stopping performance is sufficiently high and Pirelli tires developed by Akebono enhance traction and safety concerns.

The P1 decelerates from 124 MPH to a standstill, within 246 meters. The latest hybrid drive train on the P1 helps this vehicle travel around 6.8 miles solely on electric power. McLaren confirmed that the very first P1 has been sold off to a West London customer and his car was delivered by the end of September. McLaren promised its fans that they would be designing the best track friendly vehicle for its customers and this is what the P1 is, in its true sense.

A recent wave of super cars has taken global markets by storm and Aston Martin's latest One 77 is also a part of this crowd. Quarter mile performance on this vehicle is high and this is a positive side to this car. Exterior modification options would have been a killer addition although McLaren has a slew of personalization options to please its customers. However, nothing is asking for too much when you pay a few million for a car, hence McLaren cannot help but be vary of customer satisfaction at all times.

Interior details are yet to be divulged although we believe these are not far off. Performance figures on this vehicle were hounding experts for months and finally people can go off to sleep peacefully. McLaren has also revealed a video depicting performance of this monster and it is gaining publicity for this monstrous beauty.
