McLaren P1 Achieved An Average Speed Of Over 180 km/h On The Ring

The British from McLaren came up with new details about the Nurburgring tour of the P1. Although they have not announced the time obtained, McLaren says they had an average speed of over 180 km / h, which would mean a better result compared to the Porsche 918 Spyder.

McLaren is keeping the secret of the time obtained by the P1 at Nurburgring. This does not prevent them from taking full advantage of media attention. After they have submitted a video that captures part of the Green Hell on board of the P1, the British from McLaren came back with a few details meant to put fuel on fire in the race with Porsche 918 Spyder.

Currently, the fastest series model on the Nordschleife is the hipercar from Zuffenhausen, but the British from McLaren let us understand they could be the new kings of the German circuit, but do not say this clearly in any statement.

The conclusion comes from the statement announcing an average speed of over 111 mph on the Nordschleife. For comparison, those from Porsche have also announced an average speed of over 111 mph at the Nurburgring, so we can expect a very close result. The speed of 111 miles per hour is equivalent to 180 km / h. This speed is remarkable on a circuit with 150 corners and a difference of 300 meters in height. In any case, the time of McLaren was less than seven minutes. The British have also achieved a new performance: max speed (electronically limited to 330 km / h) on the straight line Döttinger Höhe.

McLaren have chosen their test driver, Chris Goodwin, to be behind the wheel the P1 for felling the record attempt. The pilot drove a P1 model, codenamed XP2R, painted in Supernova Silver shades, coupled with Race mode. This means that the rear wing was extended by 300 mm, ground clearance was reduced by 50 millimeters and the suspension was reinforced by 300 percent.

The P1 arrives with Formula 1 features like the Instant Power Assist System (IPAS), giving an instant boost in acceleration via electric motor, a Drag Reduction System (DRS) which operates the car's rear wing, thus increasing speed in straight lines, and a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). Both of these features (IPAS, DRS) are operated with 2 buttons on the steering wheel.

Meanwhile, in related news, the Special division of customization of the Woking brand made a concept to demonstrate their skills and dedication. It was called MSO 12 C Concept and presented a number of improvements over a "standard" MP4-12C . The division created in August 2011 mounted on the MP4-12C, a redesigned hood, a modified front bumper and a set of ventilation slots mounted in the rear spoiler. In addition, the model has its own aerodynamic brake, along with a special roof that integrates a slit that guides the cold air into the engine. All the innovations are made of carbon fiber, whereas the wheel bolts and covers from the fuel tank, cooling liquid and oil, are made of titanium in order to reduce the total mass of the model.
