McLaren 12 C Spider launched with the Formula One DNA
|   Wednesday, July 11, 2012
McLaren Automotive recently announced the launch of a new vehicle in the 12 c lineup, the 12 C Spider. The light weight, powerful, sports car produces a massive 625 PS and sports a unique foldable roof which uses the RHT technology to fold itself even while the car is moving.

The 12 C Spider is built on the same Mono Cell chassis as that of the 12 C and the basic designs of the two cars are the same. The only difference is the convertible factor, which makes the Spider a practical vehicle, with equal proportions of beauty and performance.

Starting at 195,500 Pounds in the United Kingdom, where the car was first unveiled, the McLaren 12 C Spider became an instant hit with automobile lovers. The car is now up for sale around the globe and has been priced effectively. McLaren plans on delivering the first vehicles by November 2012.

McLaren spokesperson and Managing Director, Antony Sheriff said at a press meeting that the 12 C Spider is built for genuine performance and sports an upgraded V 8 engine as that of the 12 C.

The 12 C is built on a regular V 8 platform. However, the 12 C Spider incorporates a completely new technology and is built extensively as a sports car. While the V 8 of the 12 C responds perfectly when revved hard, the 12 C Spider is even more aggressive when pressed hard.

The 12 C Spider is built to provide unhindered acceleration and a larger than life driving experience. The Spider is meant to cruise along the road if not glide over it.

The McLaren 12 C Spider has all the characteristics of a genuine roadster and with the push of a button this changes to sheer aggressiveness and the car turns into a track racing beast. The drive train of the car can be changed with the push of a button and this feature is not present on the 12 C.

The 12 C Spider sports a massive 3.8 L, twin turbo V 8 engine and the total power output is transferred effectively to the rear wheels of this RWD vehicle. The Spider also sports a 7 speed automatic dual clutch transmission and it facilitates fast gear shifts without much thrust.
The car is very comfortable at low rpm and feels like a monster ready to be unleashed at high speeds. The Spider is built with state of the art technology and safety measures are top rated.

Some of the dynamic technology installed in the car includes a pro active chassis control, McLaren airbrake support and brake steer assistance. These help the car maintain sublime driving condition for the driver and makes driving experiences thrilling.

The 12 C Spider handles pretty good on the freeway as well as the track and the Formula One DNA is quite evident when you go for the sharp track corners. The Spider does a 0 - 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0 – 100 mph comes in about 6.1 seconds. The Spider is one of the fastest cars of this generation with a top speed of 205 mph. However, the 12 C does 3 mph more than the Spider.
