Mazda Reveals the Mazda 3 Hatchback
|   Monday, July 15, 2013
Mazda has recently showcased the much anticipated Mazda 3 hatchback designed at rivaling the Volkswagen Golf. The Mazda 3 features range topping performance measures from the company along with the best in class safety measures. Mazda has also designed this vehicle on an all new chassis which aims at enhancing the way the hatchbacks drive and feel on the road.

Mazda's latest Sky Active technology is installed in this vehicle along with a range of other connective measures.
Mazda has also incorporated a new Kodo (Soul of Motion) technology which is an updated version of the design language program seen previously on the CX 5 and the Mazda 6. This is a long time strategy and Mazda has implemented the strategy quite well. This is one of those C Segment vehicles which actually have the capability of taking on any European production hatchback quite efficiently.

The latest Mazda 3 is larger than its predecessor despite the general ride height of the vehicle has been reduced. The long reduced over hangs, wheelbase and a wider stance make sure that this car is well balanced and sports a comfortable interior. The general boot capacity has been increased to 350 liters while the current model sports 340 liters.

Mazda is offering three petrol engines and diesel models on the Mazda 3 while the 1.5 liter petrol model is expected to be the best in class, not because of its performance, but due to its practicality. This engine is capable of displacing 99 BHP @ 6000 RPM along with 111 BHP @ 4000 RPM. Every engine option is mated to a six speed transmission system which enables the car to accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH within 10.8 seconds.

The Mazda 3 is capable of a top speed of 113 MPH without having to compromise on fuel efficiency. Mazda made sure that their car is efficiently and equally powerful on the road and this is a very tough balance which most car makers find difficult to maintain. The low end torque of this vehicle has been just as efficient as high end torque and this balances out the ride quality quite efficient.

The Mazda 3 is an efficient cruising machine and is quite comfortable within the city perimeter. This is mainly owing to the fact that the wheel base makes this vehicle very comfortable within city traffic. A small parking space and an even smaller turning radius make this a very city friendly car and this will play a very important role while appealing to the urban customers.

The Mazda 3 however holds its own even on freeways and this is a very uncommon sight on most hatchbacks. With a top speed of 130 MPH, the range topping 2.0 liter petrol engine is the most powerful of the lot. This engine however is not as fuel efficient as the 1.5 liter but provides better mileage than most of its competitors. A six speed manual transmission is mated to every engine although an automated transmission is also available.
